Hello everyone
If you need a good design program for designing and converting to SVG files, for example, I highly recommend Affinity.
A new version has just been released that is completely free.
All you need to do is create a free Canva account.
In addition to being able to convert to all kinds of formats, it is also an excellent photo editing program.
Have a great day!
Jan
agree @Jan_Petri it’s a great recomendation
Thanks @Jan_Petri… I’m new to Affinity, and it sounds like such an exciting tool to try out! ![]()
Yes, I’ve just made the switch to Affinity designer too and its great. So many apps in the one program. So far I’m loving it
hey Belle, I had Adobe suite, got an email last week to let me know cost was increasing to $114.00 p/m!! on 1st Dec, i couldnt hit that cancell button fast enough, and jumped straight on Affinity, I havent used it yet but will be soon. do you know does it remove the background?
For me, Inkscape is waaay too far the best program for vectorizations.
It makes the best raster recognition with all the accuracy and even when the image has both small intrincate and big areas.
Its “convert to centered line” is absolutelly A WE SOME. Very useful for the Loklik’s pen function.
And it is free. Not only free, but colaborative and open source, no one owns it. It keeps adding amazing people’s plugins like the vectorization one. So I’m keeping my duo Krita - Inkscape as complement of adobes.
Affinity has cool things, but it run short soon too in the test I made of it. It’s good having it there, though, and absolutely enough for some tasks.
Yes, you can remove the background in affinity. There is an ai background remover but I’m not sure if you need the Canva subscription to use it. I haven’t fiddled with it yet. But you can manually remove the background yourself as, there’s a couple more steps involved than adobe photoshop, but you can totally do it.
Yeah, I got the same email, I canceled right then and there and I’m not looking back. $114 per month is $1368 per year. That’s insane. Inkscape is a great program to use as well, as @redhada said. I think with both these programs and Davinci resolve which is free video editing software, I don’t need Adobe ever again.
Adobe’s prices are completely insane.
Therefore i always have recommended Affinity.
To use the AI features in Affinity though, you need a Canva Pro account, but it’s still a lot cheaper than Adobe.
But as Belle writes, you can do the same thing as AI yourself, it just takes a little longer.

this is so handy to know @redhada I will have a look at it before i dive in and learn to much elsewhere, i’m too old to start over lol
I just realised I have this app on my PC already!!
I know right? 2 price hikes in 2025! thats corporate greed, i kept it going bc i used premier pro every day, but ive changed my habits and don’t do that anymore, I can use Camtasia and Davinci instead of.
