Day 26: Busy day with basic house tasks. I’m expecting some gold vinyl today so I can get started on a batch of family vacation shirts for a friend. Still need to do my taxes, too. I need more coffee…

Helpful info - thanks! But they would not take responsibility and replace it. They offered a $2 coupon towards the purchase of a new roll so with the first unusable roll plus a new one, I would be paying $34 for an $18 roll of vinyl. Looking online to buy a new roll, they are the same size as what I had so I fear getting another out of that bad batch and wasting more money. I hate to go off brand with someone else but I admit I am leary.

You’re welcome. And I don’t blame you at all. Idk where you purchased your first one, or how big the roll was, but here is an Amazon listing for a 12x8 foot roll for $10.99. It’s marked down from $13.99 right now, due to the Amazon Spring Sale.:+1: Maybe the Amazon warehouse has better climate conditions.

@Samantha_Bryant @Donna_Burbey

In my experience, unusual or strong smells from plastics are generally caused by off-gassing of residual solvents due to insufficient curing. This is typically limited to a batch, or even part of a batch.

It also suggests that the material is unlikely to perform as well as properly cured material.

So, you should be able to return it as faulty and place an order for replacement, which is likely to be from a different batch.

I tried to get a replacement and was told they would not do that.

Yeah, there could be several reasons for it. I think that’s pretty much what Google said in the explanation I shared in my edited comment. However, being made of fish scales is not a reason. :joy: And she was only offered a $2 coupon for the bad batch.

Which is not the level of customer service we expect to receive from HTVRont! :unamused:
@Donna_Burbey, you should ask one of our wonderful admins to intervene. Hopefully they can help resolve it for you.

Yeah, I’m flabbergasted at the ā€œfish scalesā€ comment and the $2 off coupon. That just doesn’t seem like a typical response from HTVRONT support. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Here I thought I learned something about the makeup of glitter vinyl but finding out it could just be a translation error leaves me deflated in my knowledge base. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

As soon as I read that, I ran to Google myself because I couldn’t imagine HTVRONT glitter vinyl being made from fish scales, but I thought it was true too. So please don’t feel bad — that wasn’t on you at all. If the support rep gave you a translation error or incorrect info, anyone would’ve believed it. Your experience with the smell and adhesion is still completely valid, though, and should be taken more seriously.

It was almost one of those ā€˜facts we like to throw out there to sound like an expert!

Pescatarian vinyl!

We could still throw it out there. I believed it.

I received my HTVRont FaceBook competition prize - another iPaint to go with the one I already have. Hmmm!
It arrived in a badly ripped and damaged box, as if it was dropped (or thrown). It looks like one of the legs is bent inwards, so probably won’t even sit right. I’ll have to get in touch to see what they can do.

So very disappointed that I didn’t manifest enough for an iEngrave.

I is very believable. I wonder what the leopard print and mermaid patterns are made of?!

Apparently, the iPaint manifests you, at this point. :joy:
