Daily Mission Challenge: Brick by Brick - Finding Inspiration Beyond the Craft Table

So happy to have the Daily Mission Challenge back! Today, I wanted to shift gears just a bit and exploring something fun, refreshing, and deeply meaningful: the hobbies we love outside of crafting—the ones that refill our creative cup and spark new ideas in unexpected ways.

For me, that passion is LEGO. Every year, as the weather cools and the holiday spirit begins to settle in, I dive headfirst into building my Winter Village—a whimsical little world made of bricks, imagination, and a whole lot of joy.

This village isn’t just a collection of sets. It’s a tradition. A ritual. A reminder that creativity comes in many forms. As I stack snowy rooftops, place tiny lanterns along cobblestone paths, and watch the train make its peaceful loop around the town, I’m reminded of the power of play, story, and design. Each scene becomes a moment suspended in time—a baker frosting cookies, a train conductor waving hello, children bundled up and laughing in the snow.

LEGO has a way of reconnecting me with the simple, childlike delight that fuels all creative work. It teaches patience, problem-solving, and the joy of building something that exists for no other reason than it makes you smile. And from time to time, that renewed spark finds its way right back into my crafting, inspiring color combinations, layout ideas, and sometimes even entire projects.

My Challenge To You!

Share one of your hobbies outside of crafting that brings you happiness, clarity, or inspiration. Do you garden? Bake? Paint miniatures? Collect something unique? Build worlds out of LEGO like I do?

Tell us how that “other” hobby adds to your creativity and why it holds a special place in your life.

Let’s celebrate the full spectrum of creativity, both on and beyond the craft table.

Thanks @amber_curtis. I really enjoy putting the village together each year. I always try to add something or change something to keep it fresh and unique to each year.

I love your lego Christmas creation :christmas_tree: :deer: it would be awesome to see everyday! My hobby used to be riding my motocycle, sadly I don’t ride anymore, but this one is my 2nd bike it’s a Harley 1100 Custom. I think your hobby might be a bit safer than mine was @Cory_Barger

I don’t know @InkiteeWorkshop… have you ever stepped on a LEGO barefoot? LOL! In all seriousness that is a great motorcycle. My husband used to ride before we met. I have ridden on a few as a passenger but never drove one myself. Thank you for sharing you great picture!

Thanks @Marisol_Villanueva. The grandkids and even the neighborhood kids love coming over and watching the train and the trolly move back and forth. I even added motion to some skaters for a bit more movement.

I was already mesmerized by your setup, so I can only imagine how much more magical it must feel for the kids. I bet their smiles are priceless while watching everything move. And by the way, my little one says “hi” to the reindeer… hehe. The whole scene just feels so magical! :star_struck: :star_struck: :star_struck:
