Whenever we have family get togethers, Iām always the cook in the kitchen or at the BBQ. I donāt really mind. I love keeping busy and I always have family members come in and talk to me which is nice, Iām not really a big crowd person so it works for me. I recently made a huge banquet for my Dadās 80th birthday which was the last big family gathering we had. It was a huge event and I was so glad I did cooking prep before the big day. Helped alot. My immediate family come together for finner every night, which is nice to touch base with everyone in the family and keep the family connected. Extended family are a country away so it is hard to get over to see them often. I think it has been 5 years since Iāve been to my home town. Think it makes us cherish and be thankful of the memories we create when we are together.
I always give handmade gifts, but all the family members are different.
Wow what a great experience @redhada What a discovery
I feel providing with meals/food to other human beings is one of the most noble acts and at the same time one of the most satisfying to oneself. So sweet from you, Belle.
@redhada this was so beautiful
Well, I think the less said about my cooking, the better.
When I proposed to my wife, I made her a lovely candlelit curry. That is, it was lovely until I burned myself and dropped the rice on the floor!
Luckily, my wifeās a great cook, even though she doesnāt think so.
Omg, what a coincidence! Just a few days ago, I was chatting with a friend over dinner about family trees too. It really feels so special and meaningful when you realize how many connections link us to the past, those family bonds are truly something magical. ![]()
Indeed! When you start to discover surnames and start asking who you really are, which is your family⦠it even comes a moment when it stops making any sense at all⦠You can imagine a long movie about those generations, what branch would it be about?
It served to me to check I am a real āgataā. People who belong to Madrid at least for 3 generations with all the ancestors belonging here are called ācatsā (gatos and gatas for women). Thereāre a couple of theories about why.
It is curious because people from big citiesā families stablished long ago it is not easy to find their roots, as they are places that attract migrations so, where do you really come from? do you have an original region? did your ancestors migrated here long ago or theyāve been around here for centuries. If your parents migrated to that city from a small place, it is very easy that they come from there and didnāt move for a loong time, more if you go back to the last century or XIX, your family was already there, as there was not as much migrations as there are today.
I donĀ“t know, it gives you a deep source of thought to work on⦠maybe more if youāre a lover of the search of the origins of civilizations, as I am.
