Story:
I wanted cute figure skating jammies to wear during the winter. I know … it’s hot in Arizona already,… but the sports challenge made me want to do it now.
Gus the Gnome and Penny the Penguin
On a bright winter morning, a cheerful little gnome named Gus laced up his figure skates at the village pond. Beside him waddled his best friend, Penny, a young penguin who had been practicing skating all week.
“Today is the day I learn a real spin!” Penny chirped excitedly.
Gus smiled and adjusted his red hat. “And today is the day I finally skate backward without falling!”
They stepped onto the sparkling ice together. Penny zoomed ahead, her tiny flippers stretched wide for balance. Gus followed carefully, making slow, steady circles.
Soon they practiced twirls. Penny spun so fast that snowflakes flew into the air like glitter. Gus tried a spin of his own but became dizzy and gently plopped onto the ice. Penny laughed so hard she nearly tipped over herself.
After a break for hot cocoa and fish-shaped cookies, they returned to the ice. Gus showed Penny how to glide gracefully, and Penny taught Gus how to be brave enough to try new tricks.
As the sun began to set, the two friends skated hand in flipper across the golden ice. Together they performed a simple spin, a graceful glide, and a perfect stop.
The villagers cheered from the shore.
“We did it!” Penny exclaimed.
“We sure did,” said Gus. “The best part wasn’t the skating—it was spending the day with my best friend.”
With happy hearts and rosy cheeks, the gnome and the young penguin headed home, already dreaming about their next adventure on the ice.
