I'm Ready to Put This Thing Back in the Box and Return It! [RESOLVED!]

I contacted Support. I’m just waiting for a response. I’m not giving up, though! I’ve been planning this purchases for years. And even though things aren’t going as expected, I’m still excited. This machine is adding a layer to my home customization business. If I do need a new machine, I hope that can happen sooner rather than later!

Thanks again - you and Samantha have been great!

Same issue here. This has been a true nightmare. Zero instructions on how to connect. Wifi appeared at first, but failed (even though it was 2.4G only), now doesn’t appear. And using the USB cable (to a Mac) it finally connected. But the grinding noise is terrible and it fails on its framing. Phone support is non existent (no return calls). Email is unanswered. So maybe someone here can help. How can I get the grinding to stop. If the “front” is the part that has the controls and Loklik logo, the back is where the grinding is. Whenever I set it to origin, it smoothly goes until it hits the back and continues to try to keep going. So something is f’d up but there are so little instructions I don’t know what to do. I see the X and Y tags on electric controls, but have no idea what to do. H-E-L-P!!!

I ended up sending mine back. They sent me a new one. I noticed I was really confused about the origin, home, which way was the front and the inductions haven’t exactly kept up with the software (where certain buttons/keys are), so that didn’t make things any easier. But I have gotten it figured out. But I’m up and rolling now. It just took a little bit extra. Don’t give up. It’ll all be worth it.

Thanks… hoping there is some setting I can do. RMAs are a nightmare on both sides.
How did you actually get someone from support to contact you?

Hi @rinsky, I have a question that you might know the answer to since you’ve used a laser cutter more than I have. Yesterday I made some keychains, and since the keychains are thicker than the 3mm wood, I’m not sure what distance to place the laser head from the material. My other laser, a Scrulfun brand, has a petal stop that indicates the correct distance between the material and the laser. The keychains turned out well, but I just eyeballed the distance.

They responded to an email I sent to Support. It was at 1am, lol, but they responded. Communication was slow, but they responded to everything. I also sent a video of that was happening and pictures to better help them with what was going on.

I thought it was an extra setting that I included from watching a video about Lightburn and a laser engraver from another manufacture. But others have stated they had the same issue with the laser module attempting to “home” itself beyond the physical limitations of the machine. I tried to reset the machine, delete and reinstall Lightburn… but ultimately, I needed a new machine to start all over again.

Hello @Ideart_Studio! It’s great to hear from you again. If your material is thicker than 3mm, I usually focus first on the distance between the focal pin and the material’s surface. Then, I lower it down between 2-3mm after focusing to achieve a good engrave. Additionally, I set the power to 85% with 2x passes.

By the way, I’d love to see what you’re working on these days. If you don’t mind sharing, I’d be thrilled to see it!

Hi @kurkCourtney! Welcome to the community. I’m so sorry to hear that your iEngrave has a mechanical issue. Grinding noise is a common sign of that. Hopefully, the support team can get back to you soon because it’s a fun machine to work with! I love mine and I’ll fire up my machine again soon to create beautiful projects.
