Recently, we’ve been thinking about whether project names within the same folder in IdeaStudio should support duplicate names, and how much this might impact your experience.

Either is fine for me

Why did you choose this option? Does project naming affect how you browse or manage projects within a folder?

If I have something that is so similar to each other that it should have the same name, I put a number on it so they don’t have the same name, but if it can have the same name, I wouldn’t put a number on it as long as there are just pictures so you can see which one to choose.
I think they should be unique. It’s fairly easy to make project names unique. If I need to reuse a project I don’t necessarily save it again, I keep adding to the original.
Having voted for unique, I remembered that I had overwritten a project yesterday. However it was because I had changed the image without starting a new project.
Perhaps a warning about overwriting and offer save as new project if the resources used have changed.
I don’t have a preference, either way. I’m like @dorthe, I will put a number next to designs that I’ve given the same name to. Sometimes, I make the same design for different products, so I’ll name the design and add what it’s meant for, such as t-shirt, keychain, sign, sticker, etc. I have folders for each of those, but I still add the type of design in the name, or I’ll add a number to the end if it’s for 2 different shapes of keychain, sign, etc. For example, if I have a round sign and a rectangle sign, I will type the name plus “rectangle” or “round.” If the shapes are odd & don’t really have names for the shapes, that’s when I’ll add numbers for those designs. It definitely helps me keep my projects organized and easy to find.
I personally do not have a preference one way or the other. If I ever have something that is similar in name I will give it a number designation, as that will allow me to remember which one is which.
I’m perfectly fine with using the same name across different sections, especially when a project is divided into many parts or stages. In cases where the work doesn’t neatly fit into a single canvas or framework, keeping a consistent name helps maintain clarity, continuity, and organization. It avoids unnecessary confusion and ensures that each piece still feels connected to the larger whole, even if the format or structure varies.
I do small name changes for similar projects I mean theirs going to be multiple similar names projects not chocolate, snow flakes, wild flowers and such. So same name is ok it happens.
I think they should be unique. If you have something similar you could just add a number or name to the end. I think having duplicate names wastes time if you open the wrong one.
I think that having a unique name for each project is ideal and logical, and this is the case both in PC files and in other programs, where the same name is not allowed for two files, and it is easier to locate the correct one.
I think I like them unique and like said in previous comments, it is very easy to make similar projects unique by adding a number or color or one simple thing to point out that it is slightly different. But it can still be important to be labeled differently for most.
Would be really cool to add a tag feature. So we could tag our projects like greeting card, Christmas, holiday, foil project, cardstock project etc. Would make it easy to search for projects that a user is interested in too that way.
