My laser isnt working (RESOLVED)

ok, so my laser is making odd noises like a fan type of noise, then it stopped and now my laser is no longer firing, so i cant engrave or cut. am i doing something wrong for the laser not to fire or is it broken. at first it sounded like a loud whirring fan noise, but now it wont engrave at all.

Hi @helenhannum. Sorry you are facing issues with your iEngrave. Do you have the iEngrave with or without the lid? Are you using Lightburn or IdeaStudio? Does your machine connect fine to your computer?

A few things to try

  • :wrench: Power cycle the machine and check if the issue persists after a full restart.
  • :brain: Update firmware or software.
  •* Lid Sensor Sensitivity: Even if the lid looks closed, the sensor might not be registering it properly. Try gently pressing down on the lid as you start the job to see if that changes anything.

If you’re comfortable sharing a short video of what you’re seeing, that might help us pinpoint the problem.

@BellethehowtoGuru, I am going to mark this as resolved. It looks like in her second post she said it was working and that the original image she was trying to use wasn’t greyscale.

Oh yes, thanks. Didn’t see the second reply.

yes it’s working. the image was a line image and I had it on greyscale. when I looked at the image properly it had the lightest grey background so the laser was probably on 2% power and was working it just looks like it isn’t working. does that make sense? I hope it made sense. thanks for your help though.:grinning:

Absolutely @helenhannum. Those grayscale images are tricky for sure. I did something similar when accidentally inverted an image laser engraving some business cards. WOW was that a mess. Glad it’s working for you! Reach out if you run into any other issues or concerns. We have plenty of people here willing to offer assistance.
