Print Then Cut

so I’m trying to calibrate the machine and I did the old form calibration because when you go to cut the new form calibration when it prints it prints in black-and-white
But when you go to do the cut to calibrate, it has to cut red, yellow, and blue!
I calibrated with the old line set calibration photo But unfortunately, the printer that I own will not allow me to set my print page for the item. I’m trying to print and cut to anything other than standard size but calibration is set up for A4 which is the standard size on European terms from my understanding. my problem is, I’ve calibrated it on the old form, got it to where it cuts all the lines. Perfect it read the lines and was able to calibrate, but now that I’ve done the photo I want to print and cut just a basic one that comes with the LokLik studio it’s saying that it’s failed and cannot read the lines to cut? what am I doing wrong? or what do I need to fix this issue?!

For me, getting it to read the lines is very difficult, I sometimes have to cast a shadow over the area that it’s going to read. If the lighting is too bright, it can’t read them, if it’s too dark it can’t read them.

As for the new calibration sheet, it’s color coded so you can do 3 calibrations on one sheet, to save paper, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to do three calibrations, but chances are you will need to do many to get the cuts right. I have yet to get a perfect cut with my Crafter (cutting machine 1). However, if you do 10 calibrations, you should reset the calibration values, and start over. You can set the size of the sheet to Letter on the Machine Calibration page, as well.

Edit: I misread your post. The color code is just for selecting the line you want to cut on the sheet. It’s not actually supposed to print in color. I don’t have a sheet, but I think it’s like red for the outermost lines, yellow for the middle set of lines, and blue for the innermost set of lines. (It should say on the screen, somewhere, which color is for which lines). It’s just for telling the machine which set of lines to cut. I hope that makes sense.

What machine are you using — the LOKLiK Crafter or the LOKLiK Cutting Machine 2?

Do you have a photo of your Print‑then‑Cut sheet? You should be able to clearly see the top, right, and left registration marks, as well as the bottom‑left one. Nothing should cover or overlap those marks, or the machine won’t be able to read them. Also make sure your room has good lighting, and double‑check that both IdeaStudio and your printer are set to the same page size.

IdeaStudio supports both A4 and Letter. You might need to run a new calibration when switching between paper sizes — I haven’t tested this yet, but it’s possible. Try your project with your current calibration first, and if the cut is off, recalibrate using the paper size you’re working with.

Step by step process
So in the make screen you can choose the size of your material

Under Material load type, select the drop down arrow next to Material Size and select letter

Now press start printing

Press print

Make sure your printer is selected and press printer settings

This screen might look a little different for you but you should be able to change your paper size for your printer here. Make sure to choose Letter

Then select ok and print. If you have trouble looking through your printer settings, put a picture down below and I’ll see if I can see the setting. Please let us know how you go

If you need help calibrating print then cut, this video might help.

so i have the i craft bubble blue one this is the photo and it refuses to read the registation lines on this one but read the registration lines on the old style calibration page like it was nothing!

so on the one with the colors on “” New Calibration sheet that is an option it would not read the lines the old style with all the straight lines and ABCD. It cut and let me calibrate.

now because of my printer could be part of the issue because it’s not allowing me to change the page print out per se Because it’s only letting me keep it at standard size paper, which is 8 1/2 x 11 it has no other options or that I have figured out how to get into!!! which you can see in this print out I do have the registration lines, but it’s not centered. You can tell on this photo.

It might not have let you use the new calibration sheet if you didn’t update your machine firmware to v7 or higher. At the end of my beginner guide I show you how to do this. I have time stamps so you can just jump to that part

so I am kind of a techy person so I did already do the firmware update when I first got it just from previous experience from electronics ! But for some reason, it still would not do this one calibration sheet! which I am very new at this, I’ve literally had it one week tomorrow! so it could be something simple that I just haven’t caught yet!

So if you can only use letter size on your printer, just make sure you change IdeaStudio to letter size as well as it can get confused if you have it set to A4 and using letter paper.
In the make screen you can change it to letter under Material load type

Well, I’m not sure about the iCraft, but those lines on the New calibration sheet look like they’re really high up on the sheet. It seems like you or your printer has scaled up. @BellethehowtoGuru, what do you think about that?

so this is where my inspiration for all this has came from so in November, I started making wreaths out of nowhere ! And in the process of trying to save money instead of buying all these centerpieces that say all these little cute sayings or have these cute pictures I was like I can just make this myself!

This is gorgeous

In this image, your first one, notice how the registration marks are like a half inch from the top, but the new one is only a cm or 2 from the top? Those marks should be in the same place on both sheets. Check your printer settings make sure it says no scale and 100% in the print dialog box. You may have to click preferences to see what the printer is set at.

so you’re correct it automatically scale at 100% so I had to scale it down to about 96 to get it where it was but if I scaled it down any further the matte part for calibration continue to get smaller so I guess I’m gonna have to do research on my printer on how to get rid of the scale which I read in some forum on here and I’m one of the videos that’s there needs to be no scale, but I don’t know how to do that yet! coming to computers I can get my way around them and do some stuff or on phones or tablets or games for my child but when it comes to the printer, I’m not real good at that!

so I’ve never crafted ordered anything at all my entire life other than forced science experiments and projects which I did enjoy but didn’t take a whole lotta effort Until the first week of November of last year, I did $1300 in sales by December 14 which was my goal to provide a family in my community with $250 to help their children. Have a good Christmas that wasn’t gonna have anything. so I’m very thankful for these moments! I grew up with a childhood where I didn’t have stuff and being able to share these moments with my five-year-old and letting him create his own stuff along with me is such a wonderful experience!

OK, I will try that and see if that makes it work out better !

So you can check what firmware your machine is using by going to the home screen in IdeaStudio. Connect your device via USB.

Click on the little cog symbol next to your device.

Then click check for updates

Click the usb button an your iCraft should pop up in the device window

Underneath your device it should say what your current version is.

What printer do you have?

Instead of changing the scale there should be an option to print actual size. Changing the scale you may still have problems reading the rego marks

Yes I agree, it does look blown up

so I was able to get the calibration page to print off properly now I’m having problems actually calibrating now it is so far off on where it’s supposed to be cutting. I’ve added 10 I put it -10. I went right in the middle and I can’t get it nowhere close to where it’s actually supposed to be I was on version 05 I didn’t realize there was a V8 version on the firmware so I did get an update on it, but I cannot get it to calibrate now.
