Problems with Print Then Cut with the Crafter

:joy: Yes, thank you so much for not giving up on me. I’m so happy I’m finally able to cut stickers! Now, let’s see how this calibration goes.

Yes, of course, it was something as simple as that. :joy:

Never! To the end unless the consultee doesn´t give up and you didn´t!

I hope the calibration goes like a charm and get perfect cuts.

Remember: Do not calibrate more than 3-4 times, the cutting in the calibration sheet doesn’t need to be perfect. After 3 caibration passes, perform a simple test with an array of squares, to see acuratelly if it is matching or what coordinate it is failing the line.

I have a video to help with calibration, if you are not sure what to do.

It didn’t read the marks at first, but then I clicked recut, and now it’s actually cutting the slits! Woohoo! :raised_hands:t3:

@BellethehowtoGuru @redhada Calibration was successful! Thank you so much, Belle, for the video. It helped a lot! However, it’s still not reading the marks when I try PTC with my computer. :pensive:

Well I’m so so glad for you, now you have a new machine. I know how exciting it is when you get perfect PTCs. I still don´t give up with your computer. Keep searching the simple mistake and ask whatever you need until it also works there.

I hope your next sharing will be a perfect PTC project! :printer: :two_hearts: :scissors:

Do you select the right paper setting in Idea Studio?

Yes, I did that, but did someone say something about borderless printing? Am I supposed to change the print settings to borderless?

Thank you, yes, as long as I can PTC with my mobile, I’m 100% ok with that! I’m going to try one more time with my computer, then, I’m going to see if the calibration worked with my mobile.

I don’t print borderless

Did you make sure material size was A4 in Idea studio

No, don´t print borderless, the printer driver scales it a bit and we’re searching for max accuracy.

That’s why I insisted, print 100% scale, is the only way you’ll be certain the registration marks print exactly as in the canvas. Even if you feed a US letter and select print on A4… doesn´t matter because you’re printing scale 1:1 (100%)

@BellethehowtoGuru she’s using US Letter, remember it can be selected in IS now

No, I had to change from A4 to US letter. My paper is 8.5 x 11. That was my problem, at least I thought. Now, after choosing the correct paper size and calibrating, my alignment is off. The PTC that I did with the mobile app was way better. Here’s the last cut I did on my computer. :point_down:t3:Microsoft OneDrive

Now, it’s not reading the marks again. So, it’s hit or miss with the computer. I’ve tried 3 times, but it fails to read. My scale is at 100%, as well.

Yes adding an offset to your art work will help, so it only cuts out around the image. You can make this offset white if you want. Then after you have printed your sheet you can go back into the canvas and only select the offset layers and then select print then cut, say already printed and then cut those offset layers. Be sure not to move anything on your canvas after you print, if you do the cuts won’t line up and you should print again.

Doesn’t make sense to me that the machine reads no problem on the app but not in idea studio

Yeah, I’m just as stumped as you are. I think I’m going to call it a day, and maybe try again, tomorrow. I’ll start a new topic. Sorry, @redhada, for clogging up this one. I hope it can be merged. I’ll also work on a calibration sheet with the boxes. And try adding offsets to the artwork and see if that helps. Thank you both so much for the help. We almost got it. But like I said, if I can just do it with my phone or tablet, I’ll be happy.

I’ll have a go on my phone as well, I don’t use the app much so I’ll get familiar with that process and see if there’s anything different than Idea Studio. I think @OliviaZzz is going to split this convo and make it a new topic for us. All this information could help someone else that is having the same problem

Awesome! I hope she can merge it to a new topic I think it will definitely help. I was going to start a new topic, but we just kept talking here. I didn’t want to ignore anyone lol.

Oh no problem at all, Samantha. I’m pretty sure now you still have to fix some printing settings and understand that part better. Maybe just starting fresh a new day will help a lot, after you have the time to asimilate all the factors. You’re almost there, I don´t want you to give up on your computer.

BTW, just in case… if you calibrate the machine with one software, you don´t need to calibrate it again with the other. I haven´t calibrated it again since I got it right.

Yes, I hope Olivia can split it, but not because of mine, I don´t care about at all, I’m happy it caused this, but because it is going to be better for you and the rest of the members searching for this questions.

Yeah, if it can help someone else, that’s great. As far as the print settings, though,I don’t really have many. My prompt box is way smaller than yours,l. I did try clicking borderless after not getting a reading to see if that did anything, but it didn’t lol. I just have that and print quality. I’ve tried standard and high quality. So, idk what else it could be, as far as the print goes. :woman_shrugging:t3: I was wondering about the calibration being done for each device, as well, so thanks for clearing that up, too.
