I had a bunch of leftover Christmas fabrics, so I decided to give my drying mat a festive upgrade. I pieced and quilted the fabrics for the front, then added a design I got from IdeaStudio Library and heat‑pressed a holographic white glitter iron‑on to the back to make it fully reversible. I also stitched in 100% cotton, heat‑resistant batting so it can double as a hot pad whenever I need it.
Materials Used:
🩷Christmas Fabrics (front) 🩷Black Fabric (backing) 🩷100% cotton batting (heat-resistant) 🩷Matching Threads 🩷Cutting Mat 🩷Heat Press Mat 🩷Weeding Tool 🩷Scissors 🩷Iron-on Holographic Glitter White
This turned out so clever and festive. I love how you used up your Christmas scraps and still made something totally functional. The holographic glitter on the back is such a perfect touch. Love it!
Wow, two so different designs together looks awesome. You can make two very different scenes with them. I can imagine dressing your table so christmassy at night on Christmas Even and the turn it for sobriety on Christmas Day after during glitter hung over
Beautiful!
I felt like sewing a bit but I finally couldn’t so I guess it’ll have to wait until after season. I’m glad I can see your sewings
When I first saw the photos I thought you’d customised your cutlery with the iEngrave!
Looks great though and a clever use of offcuts, especially when it’s dual purpose.
@Edz, Thank you so much! I had so much fun turning those little leftover bits into something useful. The holographic glitter was a last‑minute “why not?” and I’m so glad it worked. I appreciate you noticing all the details!
@redhada, Thank you so much! I loved playing with two totally different moods—it’s fun how they can flip the whole vibe of a table. And the “glitter hangover” visual made me laugh. I’m sorry you didn’t get a chance to sew, but I’m really glad you’re enjoying seeing what I’ve been making. Your support means a lot.
@MCVDFC, Haha I love that! Custom cutlery would actually be kind of amazing. Thank you so much—those little offcuts were begging to be used, and I’m glad the dual‑purpose idea worked out.
@BellethehowtoGuru, Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun making it, and I’m really glad the festive‑but‑useful balance came through.
@redhada and @MCVDFC, That cracked me up! Maybe engraved cutlery needs to go on my “someday” list - not this kind of cutlery I have, too expensive to mess it up!
