I like watching Makers Gonna Learn

APPLELOVER53. I followed her on youtube because when I was just starting with my Loklik iCraft machine, I was still figuring out how to use the standard cut. I learned from her how to use weld and subtract for cutout text because I really had no idea how to do it! Eventually, I learned and started enjoying weeding for mug souvenirs, mirrors, and others. Now, I’m studying how to make cake toppers using her tutorial video because I’m planning to add cake toppers to my business.

I started off watching Jennifer maker before getting my first machine. She gives very detailed, easy to follow directions. I watch a lot of Angie holden for the same reasons. I also really like Aj Unique creations, CrystalAnn and Corinne Blackstone. I mostly watch Youtube but will watch short reels on fb or tiktok. I am a monkey, see-monkey do learner so I like step by step breakdowns and work while following along. I process information better that way. Recently I’ve been watching @Eileen_Stafford, @rinsky and @BellethehowtoGuru and will check out @Samantha_Bryant. You’re all so creative and talented! :purple_heart:

I have 2 rooms with the walls covered with paint pours! :joy: I’m slowly, but surely, going to press some vinyl on them. Some, I’m going to paint over, like the one I did today, and redo, because they didn’t turn out very well. But I do love paint pouring so much. I did one today, as a matter of fact. :joy:

I love the way the paint flows and the color blends. I’ve also watched the ones that are centered and then spun but I have to ask - do you waste a lot of paint? It seems like there is so much dripping of the sides.

No, actually, there’s not much paint used at all. It’s mostly a pouring medium — I prefer Floetrol — and water. For a dutch pour, with the hairdryer, it’s just paint and water, even though some think a Dutch pour is the hairdryer aspect, Rinske Douna is the one who started it, and she said she called it that because she’s Dutch and she’s cheap, so she just mixes water with her paint, nothing else. Then, she used the hairdryer and everyone thought that’s what made it a Dutch pour. But just mixing with water can cause your paint to crack or be very translucent. I mix 1 part acrylic paint to 2 parts Floetrol, and add water until I reach the consistency I want. As for the paint that drips off, you can either put another canvas underneath, so the paint runs onto it, dip a canvas on top of the excess paint, or — what I do — lay a lawn and leaf bag under it, and let the paint dry on the bag. Then, you have an acrylic skin that you can use to put on another canvas or make jewelry, bookmarks, light switch covers, etc. with it. You just add a coat of acrylic gesso or paint, or even glue, and stick the acrylic skin to an object or canvas and let it dry. There are so many possibilities with acrylic skins. The poppies in this painting were done with acrylic skins that I pasted over the paint pour.

This may have to be my Christmas break project. I might have to lean on you, if I do, though. Thanks for the extra info!

Yeah, it’s funny how you watch someone all the time and then you just stop. I’ve done it plenty too. Thank you for your support and watching my vids :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: truly means a lot.

And your paint pouring project you shared looks stunning, you totally need to create a video on it

I just made my first cake topper for a lady who was retiring, and then created some for my granddaughter’s birthday too. I printed her picture on my Epson ET2800 with HTvront glossy paper, laminated it with my pen and gear lamination pouches using their laminating machine, and tried cutting them out with my Loklik, which gave me a hard time, so I ended up cutting them by hand. I added the stick, and my customer loved it, even saying others might reach out to me. Can’t wait to see how yours turn out!

Yeah, I think YouTube just stops recommending them to me, and I forget about them. I still watch my favorite artists, though. They keep popping up on my feed, but not so much the Cricut people. I’m getting more Loklik creators pop up, now, which is perfectly fine with me. I just haven’t had time to sit and watch, lately.

As for the painting, thank you so much! I’m happy you like it! I do have a channel, that I started 4 years ago, where I do paint pours. I haven’t been doing anything on that channel, and I didn’t record the poppies painting, but maybe soon I can try to recreate it and do a video on it. But if you want to check out the videos I do have on paint pouring, here is that channel.

Lately, my favorite crafter to get tips and tricks from is @amber_curtis! She comes up with some great hacks.

I like to scroll on TikTok or fb reels, if there is something I really want to know more about, I head over to youtube to find more detailed directions.

Yes. Amber is definitely an inspiration.

@99YearsCreations this just made me tear up! And means the world to me! Thank you so much for this!
I just do what I love and my brain just sees things so different and like does 120 miles a min when I I get into something that really intrigues me and catches my interest! So soon as i get a machine, my brain instantly starts breaking it down in my head of how it functions and I start seeing all the possibilities you normally wouldn’t think it could be used for or ways to get even more uses of it.
You would trip if you seen notebooks and papers of notes I have everywhere! Car purses work nightstand and more!
And I also have an even bigger passion in teaching and creating tutorials . I love to show and teach others how to do things and create beautiful things.
Thank you so much for making my heart so full seeing this! It was much needed this week! I was feeling down and not finding the motivation to create much this last few days but this just lifted my spirits and now I feel pumped to go get some Christmas gifts done!

Thank you deeply Kim! So glad to call you my close friend!

Thank you so much for these words! It’s so inspiring and right as I needed it the most! It’s a very hard month for me and truly grateful to see these comments this morning! It’s motivating and encouraging and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m honored that I can share and help anything I learn or know with any person who wants to learn! I love to teach it just as much as I love to learn and create it !
