Understanding the Two Links: IdeaStudio Link vs. Community Post Link

When entering weekly events, it’s important to share the correct link so other members can actually find and make your project. There are two different links in our ecosystem, and they are not interchangeable.

1. IdeaStudio Project Link (The Required Link for Events)

What it is:

A direct link to your project inside the IdeaStudio app.

What it does:

  • Opens your project inside IdeaStudio
  • Allows others to view, save, and recreate your design
  • Ensures your entry meets the event requirement: “Submit your IdeaStudio project link.”

Why it matters:

This is the only link that lets other users actually make your project.

If this link is missing, your entry can’t be recreated — which defeats the purpose of sharing.

2. Community Post Link (NOT the event requirement)

What it is:

A link to your post in the Community feed.

What it does:

  • Shows your photos, description, and story
  • Does not open your project in IdeaStudio
  • Does not allow others to recreate your design
  • Adds an unnecessary preview to entries

Why it’s not enough:

Clicking a community link does not take users to your IdeaStudio project.

They cannot find your layers, files, or design setup from this link.

Why the Correct Link Matters for Event Entries

Weekly events are designed for members to learn from each other’s projects.

To do that, we need the IdeaStudio project link, not the community link.

Using the correct link ensures:

  • Your entry is valid
  • Other members can recreate your project
  • Judges can verify your design
  • The event stays organized and fair for everyone

How to Find Your IdeaStudio Link

  1. Open your project in IdeaStudio
  2. Tap Share
  3. Choose Copy Link
  4. Paste that link into your event entry

This is the link the event rules are referring to.

Using the actual IdeaStudio link not only helps others find and make your project, it also keeps the event feed organized and uncluttered, so coordinators can verify entries quickly. When you share the proper link, you’re offering a small courtesy that the entire community appreciates.

You’re very welcome! If and when you’re ready to start sharing your projects, I have a post here that explains step by step how to publish your projects. How to Enter Community Events

It also explains how to enter the events, of course, hence the name. We’d love to see your projects in both the library and the events.:+1:
