Weekly Update 73 | Best Beginner Projects… What Would You Add?

Hello everyone!

A new Monday is here. The feed last week had a nice mix of first projects, thoughtful questions, and a few pieces that really caught people’s attention.

:sparkles: New Projects

We saw a lovely first share from @Annmarie_Emmett, who posted two shadow box designs made with IdeaStudio floral elements. One is a grandma-themed gift and the other celebrates a new home. Both feel thoughtful and make great references. Welcome!

@Nancy_Sierchio shared a very popular piece, a beautifully crafted night light. The hummingbird and floral theme gives it a lively, almost glowing sense of spring.

Another standout came from @rinsky, who used iPaint to create a Springtime mountain scene. It’s always nice to see painting projects like this show up in the feed.

:speech_balloon: Discussions

@infoshahbaz87 made their first post with a very relatable question: What Are the Best Beginner Projects for Cutting Machines? There are already quite a few useful ideas in the replies, and it’s one of those topics that keeps growing as more people share what worked for them.

@Samantha_Bryant also shared a thoughtful post on design in Design Tips: Thinking Like a Designer It goes beyond basic techniques and touches more on how to approach design as a whole.

:star2: Community Updates

Last week, we officially introduced this round of moderators: Meet the Moderators Shaping the Space Together Take a moment to get to know the people who are actively helping and contributing to the community.

@Elena also updated the Mini Awards Store #10 with new redeemable items for Mother’s Day. A good time to check what your Cheers can be used for.

And the Mother’s Day Sale is now live, with every bundle coming with a surprise gift. It might be a good moment to see if something you’ve been eyeing is on offer.

:speech_balloon: Some really helpful questions and ideas came up this week, especially around getting started and thinking through designs. If we did a “Best Beginner Projects” list for other machines, what would you want to see next?

See you in the feed this week.

Thanks for the update. I think it would have saved me so many headaches if I’d learned about direct weeding when I first began using vinyl. Its when you put the vinyl directly on the surface of the object such as a tumbler, mug, or other item. Then just weed the negative space leaving only your design behind. This works so well for weeding intricate smaller designs. It has saved me so many times when weeding slimmer lines and small font. This works for weeding adheasive vinyl.
