my daughter asked me if I could put names on bean bag chairs that she bought her grandkids for Christmas. my first thought was the odd substrate but then it occurred to me that htv could melt the fabric? I think it’s heavy duty vinyl or nylon. not sure if I can find a tag.
I’m guessing something low heat if it IS possible.??
thanks for any and all help. maybe someone has done this before?
Putting stuff on nylon can be super tricky. You totally do have the possibility of melting the nylon with the heat. You can also see discoloration on the nylon very easy when you apply heat. I used my mini press 3 on 130c and just constantly moved it over the HTV. I also used a couple pieces of Teflon sheets over the top of it. I wouldn’t apply to much pressure either as it can leave marks on the nylon. Don’t forget to preheat using the Teflon sheets too. I think I was moving the mini 3 around for about 5 mins before it started to adhere. As far as HTV, I think I used Siser Easy weed extra or Sportflex as it is stretchy I think if my memory is right lol. It was good because it was a warm peel too so I could just test my project as I went instead of waiting for it to cool down etc.
Before you do all that though, your bean bag may have a coating that helps it stay clean or easy clean. Something along those lines, if that’s the case HTV probably won’t stick to it. Hope this helps, that’s all I can think of so far.
there isn’t a way to attach anything. it’s a bean bag chair filled with statically charged little pellets. can’t open it to take them out. I don’t want to hand sew something on it.
thanks for the response. I’ll keep trying. I did contact the company and they hopefully will get back to me with more info.
