Can the H17 press Airpod cases?

I’m getting mixed answers on handy dandy google. Some say yes and some say no. My “target audience” are adolescents and I’ve got 3 teens so I’ve tried to think about what they would spend their $$ on…bingo. I know I need a 3D vacuum heat press to sublimate them and I was looking at some from China prior to buying the H7. I have the specs from the H7, I just need to know if someone has tried it. This particular link says that it DOES. Google Search

I will totally buy the stuff, I just didn’t know if anyone has been successful! Let me know please!

Totally hear you on the mixed Google answers—been there! :upside_down_face: Your logic makes perfect sense, especially with teens as your target audience (and in-house testers :smile:). In my personal opinion, H17 is not designed for a 3D vacuum heat set up for Airpod cases. You might be able to use the H17 if you have plates specifically designed for AirPod cases, but I’m skeptical about pressing the full case. :thinking: The depth of the H17 is approximately 0.75", while AirPod cases typically measure between 0.84"–0.85"—so there’s a bit of a gap that could affect pressure and results.

From what I’ve seen, some people would be able to sublimate AirPod cases just using a traditional heat press.

If anyone here @Brenda_Castillo, @Judi_B, and @Eileen_Stafford has successfully pressed AirPod cases with the H17, please chime in! I’d love to know what settings or tweaks worked best. I’m all in once I know it’s doable—just want to make sure I’m not diving in blind.

Thanks in advance, crafty fam! :speech_balloon::sparkles:

Now I wish I had a AirPod case just to Rey it for you!

Ok that is what I was specifically wondering. I know that I could sublimate a softer TPU shell rather than a hard case, but I would still need to have a plate (not a problem). My concern was if it would FIT, and if they could be switched out and snapped in

Ah, gotcha—that totally makes sense! :bulb: Sublimating a softer TPU shell is definitely more forgiving, especially with the right plate setup. And yep, the plate isn’t the issue—it’s that fit factor that’s tricky. With the H17’s depth around 0.75" and AirPod cases sitting closer to 0.84"–0.85", it’s a tight squeeze. :grimacing:

I haven’t seen a confirmed snap-in/switch-out success yet, but if someone’s cracked that combo, I’d love to hear how they did it. :wink:

Let’s keep the ideas flowing—this could be a game-changer for teen-friendly merch! :fire::headphones:

Welp, since it appears no one has tried it, I’m going to check out the specs and order some blanks! I have to reach these kids somehow and this these would be a slam dunk way to do it!

thats the way, you never know unless you try yourself, let us know how it all goes, my H17 hasnt arrived yet, so i’m of no help :iphone:

So the TPU is going to be a no go. @rinsky is right, they are too thick. Well blanks aren’t it is the metal plate. Right now I think these are the only way to sub them, and you don’t even need a 3D for this.

Alibaba obviously has both options, but it is a national holiday as of them getting off of work last night, so nothing is happening over there for the next week.

I’m totally jealous…
However, I did get the hookup with some totally awesome people over the last few days of no sleep, so if yall need anything, I probably know someone, :rofl:
