Here’s a modern abstract piece I recently created for a client using my 3D printer, and I absolutely love how it turned out. The flowing organic design almost feels like motion frozen in time, with curves and openings that shift visually depending on the viewing angle.
What really brings this piece to life is the incredible color-shifting filament used during the print process. The filament transitions between rich metallic golds and vibrant ocean blues/teals, creating a dynamic effect that changes under different lighting and perspectives. As the sculpture twists and curves, the colors appear to move across the surface almost like liquid metal meeting water.
This is one of the things I enjoy most about combining modern art with 3D printing. The technology allows for shapes and structures that would be extremely difficult to create traditionally, while specialty filaments add depth, movement, and personality to the final piece. It became a perfect statement piece for my client’s space and a fun reminder that functional technology can absolutely become art.
