It’s Tuesday, let’s try something a little more interactive this time.
We’re starting a crafting story… and building it together, step by step.
Here’s how it begins:
In the morning, you walk into your workspace with a cup of coffee.
You take a sip, ready to start a calm and cozy crafting session.
Then you look at your work table… and suddenly pause: _______
How to join
Continue the story from where the last reply left off
You can add just one line, or a few sentences
Leave a little space for the next person to keep it going
You’re also welcome to jump in more than once as the story grows
Try to build on what’s already there, and see where the story takes everyone
A little hint
Maybe it’s something small, like the project you left halfway yesterday… somehow looking different now
Or things get a bit strange… your machine seems to have its own ideas, your design isn’t where you left it, or your workspace starts telling a completely different story
From our last Crafting Meme Time thread, it was fun to see how creative everyone got with their crafting moods 20 Cheers have been sent to all participants!
Congrats to @Rose_Ann_Dauden and @DianeB on receiving a gift card
Please DM within 7 days to claim it.
…there’s a glitter crime scene outline and a note from the crafting gremlins that says, ‘We tried to finish the project but honestly… we learned our habits from you.’ I don’t know who died, but they went out fabulous.
You take another sip of coffee, trying to process what you’re seeing, when the glitter shifts slightly on its own
The note flips over, and there’s something else written on the back:
“Check the drawer.”
You slowly pull it open… and pause again…
You pause again while sipping the coffee looking and letting the light bulb go on and off finally you really have an idea oh glitter and sparkles you have a granddaughter who might like a new shirt ! But now you drift and pause trying to think of the perfect idea … now I’m stumped in thought!
You lean back, letting the idea stretch out slowly instead of forcing it. Maybe it’s soft pastel colors—like cotton candy skies. Maybe there are tiny sparkling stars scattered across it, like she’s carrying a piece of the night sky wherever she goes. Or maybe…
something shifts under the glitter. The drawer rattles softly… and there’s a second note tucked underneath the vinyl. This one looks way more ominous.
‘Stop getting distracted,’ it says.
You blink, trying to focus on the shirt idea, but the gremlins are NOT having it. The glitter outline shifts again, the drawer slams shut on its own, and a new note slides out that reads, ‘HELLO? The mystery isn’t solved.’
The Irish Coffee has definitely improved the focus and the ideas are flowing now but what direction should I take? A shirt, a Shadowbox with tons of glitter, a pillow, a wall hanging, a coffee cup, etc, etc, etc. Maybe there are too many ideas now. I wonder if I can phone a friend to narrow it down?
I phone the friend. Ironically, they ae having similar issues. We decide to pause for lunch and regroup. We’ll return hopefully more focused and ready to complete the project.
You get back from lunch and head back into the craft room.
You take one step toward the table… and that’s when you see it.
The glitter outline isn’t just an outline anymore.
It’s… filling in. Slowly. Like something is materializing inside it.
A faint shimmer rises from the floor, shaping itself into the silhouette of a person — tall, dramatic, draped in what looks like a cape made entirely of holographic vinyl scraps.
Then the voice hits you. Soft. Echoing. A little offended.
“Finally,” it says. “I’ve been dead for HOURS and you’re all talking about shirts.”
The gremlins scatter.
The glitter swirls.
And the figure steps forward.
You’re no longer guessing who died.
You’re looking right at them.
“That’s it! A shirt and a matching cloth bag.” You almost laugh out loud now, the idea finally landing and settling in your chest like it belongs there.
It finally hits you right between the eyes! Perfect for your little granddaughter. You decide to have them say: Sunny mixed with a little bit of hurricane. But now what, you know there’s got to be more…maybe a…
I take a look at the plain, clear, colourless tumbler lid. Why don’t I try making one of those fancy shaped lids, like a cookie or something.
I’ve still got so much more glitter than I could ever need, but I’ve ran out of resin.
I rush out to try to make the craft store just before it closes…
