Daily Mission: Adding Texture and Dimension — Bringing Depth to Your Craft Projects

Flat designs are nice… but dimensional crafts? Those are the ones that truly pop! Tomorrow’s daily mission is all about adding texture and depth — whether through layering, mixed materials, or clever design choices that make your creations stand out.

Think about how a simple project can come to life with extra details:

Layered vinyl on wood for a bold 3D effect.

Mixing engraved wood pieces with painted or sublimated elements.

Adding ribbon, fabric, or textured paper to make a design feel touchable.

Creating visual contrast by pairing matte and glossy finishes.

Both HTVRONT and LOKLiK tools shine here — your heat presses bring colors to life on textured blanks, while your engraving tools carve out dimension and depth with precision.

Share a post:
– With a project where you added dimension or layering.
– With a new material you’ve experimented with to add texture.
– With your tips for combining materials (like vinyl, wood, or acrylic) for that “wow” factor.

Adding texture isn’t just about looks — it’s about feeling. It transforms a flat piece into something interactive, interesting, and irresistibly handmade.

So tomorrow, let’s celebrate those projects that don’t just look beautiful — they feel beautiful too.

I’ve been actually curious to dive into 3D effect or other textures I have other things I’m working on at the moment though but I hope to get into that soon.

That’s very cool @DianeB! I would be excited to see what you are able to create! I love playing with 3D effects and combining layers to add dimension and texture to projects. I am working on some new projects to share that will bring engraving to some painted/sublimated projects. I have played around with some pieces but those are unfinished and were just to see the result I could get. I hope to have something a bit more polished to share very soon. Please be sure to share your work when you do experiment!

I always try to add some dimension to my greeting cards. I think it makes them look a bit more elegant and interesting. Layering and adding dimension can be tricky though, if you add to much you can make the piece look cluttered and to busy.

Absolutely @BellethehowtoGuru. It is a fine line sometimes that can make a project looked polished or look “muddy”.
