Daily Mission Check-In: Versatile Vellum Magic!

Hey Crafty Friends!
My Daily Mission today is all about shining a light on one of the most underrated materials in the crafting world — Vellum!

If you’ve never worked with it before, vellum is a semi-transparent, slightly frosted paper that can completely transform the look of your projects. It’s soft, elegant, and full of creative possibilities!

Here are a few ways to use vellum in your crafts:

  • Cardmaking: Layer vellum over patterned cardstock for a dreamy, frosted look or use it to soften bold backgrounds.
  • Scrapbooking: Add vellum journaling blocks or overlays to highlight special photos while keeping your design light and airy.
  • Invitations & Stationery: Perfect for wedding or event invites when you want that classy, see-through effect.
  • Die Cutting: Cut vellum into delicate shapes — snowflakes, leaves, or ornaments — for subtle, layered dimension.
  • Mixed Media & Vinyl Projects: Use vellum to diffuse LED lights inside shadow boxes or behind acrylic pieces for a soft glow.

Mission of the Day:
Try adding vellum to one of your ongoing or upcoming projects. Whether it’s a small accent or a key design element, see how it changes the texture, light, and overall mood of your piece.

Have you ever used vellum before? What project did you use it in — and if not, how do you think you could use it next?

Let’s inspire each other with fresh ideas and creative uses for this beautiful, translucent material!

Happy crafting!

Oh I love using vellum. It really is magic. Sometimes when you are crafting and you think oh this card just needs something to make it pop. Reach for the vellum. It really adds some special and elegant to the project you are working on.

Oh I have bought vellum and my intention was to make a wedding card sample with laser printer and foiling but didn’t do it at all and I have never done anything with it

I only discovered vellum last year when my son’s teacher asked that their learning report card be printed on vellum board. I honestly thought it was just like an illustration board at first!
