In countries where we celebrate the Wise Men, who in Spanish are literalky called the Magic Kings, children leave some sweets
and drinks
for them, whose taste casually match the parents’
But also some water and for the camels.
As Santa’s night is also celebrated, as a result of globalism, he receives the same treatment. Maybe the tradition for Santa and Rudolf is the same, I don’t know, it was not a tradition here.
I remember when we were young, my mom would always remind us to keep our Christmas decor up until Three Kings Day, and she would cook “biko” especially for the occasion. She would even save at least one piece of fruit from our New Year’s Eve table until Three Kings Day. I’m not sure if it was a tradition or just her little custom, but thinking about it now brings back such happy memories. ![]()
Yes it is the tradition, at least from Spanish time in Phillipines it went there for sure, as they’re all tCatholic Christmas traditions that were there for around 4 centuries.
It seems, and I’ve also seen that from all the Philipino members, that even many of the Spanish names and traditions are still conserved there. As the Roscón de reyes, or even your own name and surname Mary of the Sun is your name and New Village your surname ![]()
I’ve just seen, those Bandejas de Reyes Magos are becoming very popular lately, so I think a new tradition deco has born.
The 3 Wise Men night is on January 5th, the 3 Wise Men daybis the 6th, and here it is a National Holiday, so our Christmas last a bit longer, like in other countries such as Italy, where the celebrate that same day the Befana Day (a pagan witch that mixed with the same Epifany celebration. In Vasque Country in Spain, there’s also a similar thing with the Olentzero, which is the same but with a coalman… all that traditions are so ancestral, older than the Christianism and so interesting…
Congratulations, Summoner! You’ve summoned Rune [ X ]! ![]()
