This craft project features small whiteboards for writing with dry-erase markers, perfect for use on desks or the fridge by adding a small magnet to the back. They have a fun and cute beehive design in pink tones. The little bees’ illustrations are from the Idea Studio library, as is the font used, which is fully editable. The patterned paper is my own design and is included in the project so the community can print and use it.
There are two types: one uses printable adhesive vinyl and its acetate carrier as the dry-erase surface, and the other can be made with any paper, laminated with transparent book cover film, which also serves as the dry-erase surface. I prefer the first method because the whiteboard surface looks super clean, very white, and smooth, although it is a bit harder to wipe clean (for which I use a drop of isopropilic alcohol on a tissue). It also adheres very well. The second method allows you to decorate the surface and it cleans more easily, but the ink smudges more, takes longer to dry, and doesn’t look as crisp as with the acetate.
The small boards have a magnet on the back for fridge use. The larger ones have a thin gray card under the writing surface for stiffness and to level out the margins created by the back flaps. The small ones don’t need this reinforcement, as it adds weight and makes the magnets less effective.
It’s a very simple craft, looks fantastic, and works great with dry-erase markers. For this project, I used cardstock for stability and rigidity, light gray cardboard for firmness under the writing area, printable adhesive vinyl for the designs, printable paper, scrapbook or any patterned paper, transparent adhesive book cover film for lamination, and Tombow Aqua glue.
