This is a simple but special project. My sister and father share the same birthday. I usually bake them a Black Forest cake. I don’t have tools for decorating, so I keep it minimal. Last spring I made it with seasonal fruit (strawberries) instead of chasing cherries; and it turned out more delicious than ever. I kept the idea so changed to autumn palette: mandarins, oranges, kiwi, and raspberries, a perfect autumnal reddish-orange syrup and filling.
Time was short, but I didn’t want to skip making at least a small topper and taking a few photos to share. Since it was for two people of different ages, I decided to center it on one word. In Spanish, congratulations is “felicidades”, but I preferred to shorten it to “felicidad” (happiness). It felt more meaningful: not just a wish for the day, but life itself.
I chose a handwriting font and drew two little heart doodles to frame it. The design came together naturally so I hurried to cut it. I had just received a gorgeous roll of HTVRONT rose gold matte metallic vinyl as a prize from the 7th Anniversary activity, perfect for this topper. It was intriguing: a thin metallic film that cut cleanly and looked elegant right away. I didn’t have time to explore it much, so I’ll leave that pleasure for another project.
I built it on two layers of 300g photo cardstock printed with a subtle heart pattern I made from the same font ornaments, one front and one back for structure. After the celebration, I took calmer photos and shared the SVG in the Idea Studio Asset Library. Since the original font is not royalty-free, I made another version using Mama font and added the hearts again separately so anyone can change the word or typeface. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
To showcase the design, I made a small layered greeting card, giving it a delicate, intricate look on cardstock, and once again the Crafter’s precise cut made it shine. Everything came together beautifully: a word, a wish, and a handmade touch celebrating happiness
@redhada, This is absolutely beautiful—both the sentiment and the execution. I love how you wove together seasonal flavors, personal meaning, and handmade touches into something so heartfelt. The choice of “felicidad” is especially moving—it feels like a quiet, powerful wish that transcends the moment and speaks to the whole year ahead.
The topper is stunning in concept and in spirit. That rose gold vinyl sounds like it was destined for this project—what a lovely way to honor the celebration and your prize from HTVRONT! And the layered cardstock with the heart pattern? Just the kind of detail that makes your work feel so intentional and full of love.
Thank you for sharing the SVG and making it adaptable for others. That generosity is such a gift to the community. And the greeting card to showcase it? A perfect encore. Everything about this project radiates care, creativity, and joy. Felicidad, indeed
Thank you for sharing and the svg is just beautiful!
This might sound like a silly question but I’m genuinely curious, how did you stick the vinyl on the cardstock without it ripping the paper?
You’re welcome @DianeB ! Oh I have no problem with adhesive vinyl on cardstock, the vinyl is more sticky than the carrier so you just need to place it kindly.
This is the second time I apply permanent vinyl on paper, I also made it in my board project, to make the clothesline. I had no idea myself if I could do that or if it was better using htv. But I consulted some good experts here and followed their advise to use adhesive and it worked like a charm, no ripping at all.
There’s always the chance to make a little test before, but I didn’t even do that, I made it directly in the project
