DIY Project Sharing | Green Box

A simple little project to personalise my green recycling box, as my neighbour keeps taking my box ‘by mistake ’ after they’re emptied. Their box is older, broken, and littered with cigarette butts!

Just a few easy steps in LOKLiK IdeaStudio to create a great sticker, which should last for years in permanent adhesive vinyl.
1: Create a text box and select the text to change it to your house number, eg. 7.
2: Change the font if you’d like a different style.
3: Change the dimensions to around 5” in height. Ensure that the padlock is showing as locked next to the dimensions, to keep the width in proportion when you change the height.
4: Create another text box and edit the text to say your street name, eg. Whernside.
5: Change the fill colour of your street name to stand out against your house number.
6: Rotate the street name by holding and dragging the circular arrow icon in the top right corner of the text box, until it’s aligned with the downstroke of the house number.
7: Resize the street name by holding and dragging the bottom right icon of the text box, until you’re happy with the size.
8: Hold and drag the text box if you want to reposition the street name, to align it better against the house number.
9: Select both text boxes, either by dragging a box around them, or by clicking on them both in the layers panel.
10: Press the Action menu button and then select Combine to bring up the option dialog box.
11: Select Subtract, which will cut out and extract the street name from the house number. This action creates a new object which can no longer be edited as text. However, if you wish to make a change, you can simply press Undo and edit again.
12: With this new object selected, click the Array button to bring up its dialog box. The array function creates copies of your object at set positions in a repeating pattern.
13: Enter the number of copies you’d like in rows and columns, then enter the distance you’d like for the spacing.
14: Cut vinyl.

So sleek and stylish. This is one of the projects I’ve been meaning to do for ages but never get around to it. Thank you for reminding me.

Thank you.
It’s one of those things that you often remember that you need to do, but it always gets relegated to be the ‘next thing’ and you just never get around to it.
