I made this LOVE design, so that I could cut fabric and applique it onto a tote I made.
First, I used single-sided light-weight fusible interfacing to bond the fabric so it would actually cut without tearing.
Once I had the fabric bonded, I placed it onto a Fabric Grip mat, and set my Loklik Crafter to Cardstock (230 GSM). Force 7, speed 3.
Next, I used a straight stitch on my sewing machine to sew the letters onto the fabric I planned to use for the pocket. Once I had it sewn to the fabric, I used a zig-zag stitch (set to 1.0 length, 3.0 width) to give it an embroidered type edge. Making sure to cover the straight stitch I had already made.
NOTE: When appliqueing the letters to the fabric with the embroidered edge, it’s best to use a tearaway stabilizer so they fabric doesn’t bunch. I didn’t have any stabilizer, at the time, so my fabric did bunch a little.
However, if you want to skip the sewing, you can always use a double-sided fusible interfacing to bond your fabric, then, iron on the letters.
Another NOTE: The O in the word looks to be a solid circle, however, when you change it from “Fill” to “Contour” you will see the letter O as it should be, and it will cut the letter properly.
WARNING: If you’re using heat transfer vinyl, as I did on the reversible side pocket, be sure to press the design onto the pocket fabric BEFORE sewing the pocket to your bag. Otherwise, the vinyl will also adhere to the bag, as I had to peel the pocket away from the bag when I was done pressing.
