Hey, crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing a fun experiment that turned out beautifully! I decided to try sublimating on a bamboo cutting board — and guess what? It worked like a charm thanks to a little self-laminating trick!
Materials I Used
Bamboo cutting board (from Cooking Concepts)
HTVront self-laminating sheets
Brother Sublimation Printer
Loklik Studio (for my design)
HTVront Heat press 2
Scissors
Step 1: Create Your Design
I designed my logo — Kay’s Designz: Crafted with Love — right inside Loklik Studio. I also uploaded my digital illustration to personalize it. Once the layout looked perfect, I printed it using my Brother Sublimation Printer on HTVronts sublimation paper.
Step 2: Prep the Bamboo Board
Since bamboo isn’t a sublimation-coated surface, I used HTVront self-laminating paper as my base.
I cut it to size and carefully applied it over the board, smoothing out any air bubbles for a nice, even surface then I pressed it for 80 seconds.
Step 3: First Press
I pressed the laminated board at 390°F for 80 seconds to make sure the laminate fully adhered and bonded smoothly.
Step 4: Add the Sublimation Design
Once the board cooled just a but, I placed my print design on top face down. Of course and press it again at 390°F for 40 seconds. When I lifted the paper it was perfect. The colors were bright, crisp and look professionally done.
Step 5: Trim the edges
To finish, I use my scissors to carefully.Trim around the edges. This part took some patience getting around them corners neatly was my only hiccup but was everything was clean and smooth. The results were totally worth it.
Final, this sublimation on lamination hack is a total game changer for bamboo and other 9 coated surfaces is simple, creative and give that professional finish. We all love. The only tricky part was trimming around the edges. But next time , I’ll use a smaller craft blade for more precision.
I absolutely love How it turned out crafted with love, just like my brand name says!
