DIY Project Sharing | Welcome Home Shadow Box

This is a shadow box design I made for your new baby boy or girl arrival.

There’s nothing quite like the moment you cross the threshold with your newborn in your arms—home suddenly feels different. Charged with a kind of magic that only a tiny bundle of squishy cheeks and sleepy sighs can bring. You’re not just returning home—you’re welcoming a whole new world into it.

It’s the beginning of late-night cuddles, first giggles, and a thousand tiny milestones. And yes, it’s also the start of diaper duty, sleep deprivation, and learning to do everything one-handed. But above all, it’s the start of a love so fierce and tender, it rewrites your definition of family.

This will make a cute additional nursery decoration.

Materials used
Kmart shadow box
300 GSM 30x30cm scrapbook paper
Unfortuately my printer ran out of ink and I wont get a delivery in time so I had to make do with photos that didn’t quite fit but you get the idea. I totally made this myself in LOKLiK idea studio using text, circles and stars. If you want a tutorial, let me know and I’ll share one.

Ohhh that’s so beautiful, cool and meaningful. Besides welcoming, it recalls me to the Stargate (I’m finishing SG-1 for the nth time now haha), and birth chart altogether. It seems it is going to start spinning! :joy: I lo lo love it! :two_hearts:

Oh thank you so much for your kind words. I to wish I had something like this for my children’s nursery. Would of made it extra special.

@Marino thank you lovely, I’m glad you like it

@redhada Omg I love Stargate. I was just thinking the other day that we should re-watch Stargate again as we’ve been playing a lot of No man’s sky recently.

Oh my heart—this is absolutely beautiful. You captured that threshold moment with such tenderness, it gave me chills. That mix of squishy cheeks and sleepy sighs, fierce love and one-handed everything? So real. This shadow box isn’t just decor—it’s a little time capsule of that first breath of family. What a gift to give someone stepping into that magical, messy, love-soaked chapter.

Oh, thank you @rinsky. It’s been a while for me, but I tried to think back of my moments, and the cherished memories. Apart from the crying I loved all the little sounds they made.
