DIY Project Sharing | Whispers from the Poison Lantern

A spectral skull rises in smoky silence, guarding the glowing brew below. Each flicker of green, blue, and violet light whispers a warning: beauty can be deadly, and “Poison” never hides its charm. Perfect for summoning eerie enchantment to your Halloween setup.

How to Make It: Poison Lantern Cutout + Glow Box

Materials:

  • Black cardstock (200–250 gsm recommended for crisp silhouette cuts)
  • Loklik iCraft cutting machine
  • Fine point blade
  • LED tea lights or mini fairy lights (green, blue, purple)
  • Vellum or acetate sheets (for light diffusion)
  • Adhesive (double-sided tape or glue dots)

Loklik iCraft Settings:

  • Blade: Fine Point
  • Force: 7
  • Speed: 7
  • Passes: 1

Steps:1.
Design & Cut:

  • Import or create a layered SVG featuring a skull, swirling smoke, and lantern panels.
  • Load black cardstock into your Loklik iCraft and apply the settings above.
  • Cut all pieces, checking edges for clean separation before removing the mat.
  1. Light Panels:

    • Back each lantern panel with vellum or acetate to soften and blend the glow.
    • Place colored LED lights behind each panel—secure with tape or foam spacers.
  2. Assembly:

    • Fold and adhere the lantern structure using glue dots or tape.
    • Attach the skull and smoke silhouette to the top for dramatic flair.
  3. Finishing Touches:

    • Test the lighting in a dim room to adjust placement.
    • Optionally, add shimmer dust, glow-in-the-dark paint, or hanging chains for extra mood.
