Exciting News from Canva, Re: Affinity

For those of us that love to create our own, more complex designs, there’s big news regarding Affinity Designer. Many crafters can’t afford the ridiculously expensive subscription model of Adobe, so this is the next best thing (for the iPad at least).

Today was the big reveal of the huge secret that Affinity (owned by Canva) have been hinting at for the past month or so.

I haven’t had time to read through the announcement fully, but it looks very positive. Affinity Designer, Photo, and Publisher are to be merged into one app, which will be free forever.

Oh but it is not Canva but Canva’s.

It is a stand alone different software that doesn´t look bad at all

As I commented on the daily check in, It seems the best copy of Illustrator I’ve ever seen, so it seems a very good free option. I’m not using it on desktop, I will just try it, but I hope they don´t forget Android, I need a good shit like this for my Galaxy S Tab…

There’s no mention of an Android version. :sob:

I know, that’s why I posted this :disappointed_relieved:

It seems like Adobe with Fresco, Android doesn´t exist for them :pensive:
Or like out of US here :joy: I’m always out :joy:

I’ve used the iPad version of Affinity Designer 2 for about 18 months and I find it excellent. I changed to it completely when Linearity Curve became a subscription.
There are many professional artists on the forums and on Reddit who stated they switched to Designer from Illustrator, as they weren’t happy with Adobe’s subscription model. Several of them said that Designer’s app is far superior to Illustrator’s app on the iPad.
For me, as a fairly basic user, it is an extremely powerful app that is capable of far more than I’d ever need.

Unfortunately, the new Affinity release isn’t yet available on iPad. Watch this space!

Yes, this is really good news for anyone who wants to design their own crafts.
I have been using Affinity for several years.
The new version 3.0 works really well.
I look forward to them releasing the version for iPad.

Glad you like it.

I can’t wait for iPad version too. I’d have thought they would have made sure it was also ready for the reveal. I can only assume that they had major problems with it, which forced a delay for the release.

I just read it is very easy to translate to ios and android because of the languaje it uses, but it seems the developers doesn’t want to know anything about Android, because they are Apple fanatic, even if it has the larger number if users…
