I recently bought the Loklik tumbler/mug press and have been experimenting with sublimation over the past few weeks. I’ve tried different temperature and time settings, and while some mugs turn out sort of ok, others come out with inconsistent results even when using the exact same settings. It feels very hit-or-miss.
I followed Marino’s instructions from her post, and although the colors look nice overall, I’m consistently getting ghosting and faded colors on the right side of the mug, almost as if that area isn’t receiving enough heat.
On closer inspection, I noticed that the padding inside my machine isn’t properly attached and there’s a lump at the bottom (see photos attached). I’ve contacted HTVRont UK about this issue and am waiting for their reply, but in the meantime, I wanted to ask: does this look like a faulty machine to you?
I added a mug with no sublimation just so you can see what the padding looks like when the top is opened and closed.
that padding looks faulty (imperfect) to me @Tina-p I would wait for a response from HTVRont about a replacement, I’m sure you have already decided this, but don’t waste anymore material or mugs on this one.
Thank you for your reply. After a couple of emails and sending them more photos, HTVront have agreed to send me a replacement, which will hopefully arrive soon. I’m really looking forward to receiving the new one, as I’ve gone through so many mugs thinking I was doing something wrong
I have 3
One I didn’t open yet or see if it’s working BUT the first one I got from the company to test and promote has this fault like yours in the 1st pic and I’ve been using it since I got it almost 1.5 years and never had an isuue with my mugs or Tumblers.
Yet I’m glad you will get a replacement
I didn’t notice the issue at first, as I assumed the padding was meant to be like that. It was only after watching other people’s presses on YouTube that I realized mine looked different. I suspect the bump in the padding might be causing uneven results.
I tried your settings yesterday, but one side of the mug still came out very faint, and the rest of the mug had beautiful colors. It feels like the heat isn’t distributing evenly. I’m attaching two photos showing the faint outcome and one with bright colors — all done using the same settings. I do love the concept of this machine, and I’m really looking forward to trying again once my new mug press arrives
