Hi I am new to the iceaft world. I’m creating a project using acetate and my question is- can you foil acetate using an icraft? (obvs have the different icraft heads).
Ive seen online posts suggest laser printing the acetate then using a foiler which can stick to toner- but not sure about the heat in laser printer so laser printing is not an option. - I will be trying to score my acetate then foil it- but any thoughts would be most welcome. Am based in the UK
Hmmm… I’m not sure if the foil transfer kit will transfer well with the acetate since it’s a plastic surface…
thanks for the feedback. I experimented this morning after posting this. If I score it first then apply the foil- using different settings- it appears to work. I’m using fine lines in my illustration so maybe thats why it works.
I don’t think it’s possible for the foil to transfer I’ve tried it before. But feel free to give it a go,maybe there’s a technique that works.
I guess thr jagged lines after scoring would help for the foil to adhere. I think some also use metalic markers then wipe off the excess
Acetate is a soft plastic. It’s commoly used on engraving art stamps. Just a drypoint engraving punch on it and you have an engraved plate you can ink and then press to the paper. If ink stays, I don´t see why foil could somehow not. I guess it is only a matter of try and create a method. I think the iilustation should be drypoint engraving style, though.
Something like a simplified version of Rembrandt’s engravings:
