Every day, when we take a moment to look up, we see an endless sky above us, sometimes a blue that feels infinite, sometimes a night filled with countless stars.
Have you ever stopped and wondered what’s really out there?

Bei gutem Wetter können wir aus dem Fenster zu Hause Abends den schönsten Himmel sehen. Von tief rot zu lila zu blau und schwarzer Nacht. Gerade das Tief rot ist absolut faszinierend!
Oh, I love the moon! I enjoy taking pics of it with my Nikon Coolpix P900. Here are just a few of the thousands of photos I’ve taken of it, including one of the lunar eclipse we had in 2018, one where I captured — what I think is — an owl, and some playful edits I made for fun. I have a video on my TikTok in which an airplane flew in front of the moon while I was recording. That was such an awesome surprise, for me. I also love making art of the moon. I’ve included a photo of a watercolor painting I did on black mixed media paper, and also a Fairy Sitting on the Moon lightbox I made with my Loklik Crafter. I also found some beautiful pictures I took of the sun, a hawk, and some jets I was fortunate enough to capture flying by, one day. I hope you enjoy my photos. I also enjoy photography as an artistic medium, if you can’t tell.
By far, this is still my favorite. Snapped this photo right outside my BIL’s house. I’ve seen moon halos lots of times but this was my 1st time seeing a sun halo
I love a beautiful sunset! When we built our home, we decided to place our home facing west and up on the little hill we have. This placement has given us views of some of the most beautiful sunsets. We are able to sit on our front porch and watch the sunset over the trees. Here’s just one photo that will give you an idea of what we are seeing regularly!
Besides that, there’s a saying in Magrid I love: “De Madrid al cielo” (From Madrid to the Sky).
The phrase comes from a popular expression meaning that Madrid is so wonderful that only after death, in Heaven, is there anything better, often completed with “and a little hole to see it through” for emphasis. Its origins date back to this 17th century poem (or the first known reference)
«Pues el invierno y el verano, en Madrid solo son buenos, desde la cuna a Madrid, y desde Madrid al Cielo».
"As winter and summer, in Madrid are only good, from the cradle to Madrid, and from Madrid to Heaven."
The night we were evacuated because of the fire next door we saw the most amazing night sky as we hiked three long blocks to warmth. I was amazed how many more stars I could see than in my own back yard.
I’ve tried inking a night sky twice with my distress inks, the first didn’t turn out so great lol…
Beautiful! I love them both! And, yeah, where I live, I don’t get to see many stars, as I’m close to Houston, so the city lights polute the night sky. When I go back to Tennessee, I’m always so happy to see all the stars in the sky. I often forget that there are so many. I can see about 12 of em from my backyard.
I have a love for the night sky! I have taken lots of moon photos but I love stars as well. I have what I call the stars of my life tattoos from my shoulder to my hip they have items in them or are special stars like a gifted necklace a friend game me that was the make a wish star a ferret paw print for a close friend rubber duck for niece and nephews the Mario star… on my arm I have a owl with the moon… one of my favorite sayings is reach for the moon even if you mis you land among the stars.
Thank you so much! I haven’t, yet, but that’s a great idea. I have thousands of moon and bird pics that would make excellent notecards, calendars, etc. I use my photos mainly for drawing and painting references, but I definitely should use them for other things, and will probably start brainstorming ideas, eventually.
Oh, that’s so nice you visit Tennessee! I’m from East Tennessee near Gatlinburg. I spent the first 20 years of my life there. I always said I would be living in Texas when I was little, and have been living here for just over 23 years, now. I think I took the beauty of Tennessee for granted. I’m always amazed when I go back. I can’t believe I was in such a hurry to leave.
@Judi_B, those are some beautiful moon shots. I love your tumbler, and that tattoo is excellent!
Happy Friday! I love this — it’s so true. The sky feels like this giant reminder that there’s so much more beyond our little daily routines. I catch myself wondering about it all the time… what’s out there, what we haven’t discovered yet, and how tiny we really are in the best possible way.
The first two photos were taken at one of the soccer fields where my daughter practices. I snapped them because the sky looked like something straight out of a time‑travel scene — as if someone from the future was trying to break through our atmosphere and create a portal.
I am always amazed every time I see rainbow in the sky. Rainbows are one of nature’s most colorful and joyful sights. After a storm, they shine across the sky with bright colors that make people smile. Because rainbows bring hope and beauty, people have made special sayings, called idioms, using rainbows to explain feelings, ideas, and events in life.
These two photos are from our January 2024 trip to San Diego, CA for a Surf Challenge — the first time the team brought home both the gold medals and the gold trophy. I took them from my window seat on the plane; there’s something so peaceful about flying through those soft clouds, even with a bit of turbulence.
And finally, I made this bag keychain for my daughter and the whole team to cherish — a small reminder of all the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that led them to become CHAMPIONS.
English Translation: On clear days, we can see the most beautiful sky from our window at home in the evenings. From deep red to purple to blue and then the black of night. The deep red is absolutely fascinating!
My response in German: Du hast mir ein wunderschönes Bild vom Aussehen deines Himmels vor Augen gemalt. Das klingt fantastisch! Vielen Dank fürs Teilen!
English: You’ve painted a beautiful picture in my mind of how your sky looks. It sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Your photos are beautiful, @rinsky ! I love clouds, too! Your first 2 pics, to me, look like snow laying in the sky! So beautiful! And the photos of the clouds from the plane are so freakin’ awesome, too! I love them all! Your rainbows and sunsets, simply epic! And, of course, that keychain is top notch, as well!
