Has anyone used glitter DTF in their HTVRONT DTF printer? If so did you have to change the settings?

Hi, @cahlawv!:smiley: Welcome to the community! We’re so happy you’re here. I’m assuming, you’re talking about using glitter DTF film? If so:

Yes, you can generally use glitter DTF film in the Loklik iPrinter DTF-A3-XP600, provided the film is compatible with Epson XP600 printheads.

Printer Compatibility: The Loklik iPrinter DTF-A3-XP600 is designed for various DTF films, and using specialized glitter film can enhance your designs.

Process: The process remains similar to standard DTF: print, apply powder, cure, and transfer.

Tips: Ensure the glitter film is suitable for inkjet DTF printing.

Yes, you may need to adjust specific settings, primarily for the heat press and potentially the white ink density, to get optimal results when using glitter DTF film compared to standard film.

Printer & Software Settings

Design Considerations: When preparing your design in software, like Adobe Illustrator, you might need to adjust the artwork to incorporate the glitter effect properly. This can involve creating a “glitter mask” to ensure the printer knows which areas should be printed on the glitter film layer.

White Ink Density: One user noted issues with white ink rolling off the glitter surface because the glitter repelled it. You might need to experiment with the white ink density setting in your print software to ensure proper adhesion to the glitter film’s texture without over-saturating it.

ICC Profiles: Always use the correct ICC profile provided by the film and ink manufacturer for your specific Loklik iPrinter DTF-A3-XP600 model to ensure accurate color reproduction.

Resolution/Speed: Maintain a high resolution (e.g., 1440x720 dpi) and consider slowing down the print speed to ensure precise ink deposition on the specialized film surface.

Heat Press Settings

The heat application process often requires more specific adjustments for glitter film:

Higher Temperature: Glitter DTF transfers often require slightly higher temperatures (around 300°F / 150°C) compared to some standard DTF transfers to ensure the adhesive melts and bonds securely around the glitter particles.

Medium to Firm Pressure: You’ll generally need medium to firm pressure to secure the glitter transfer to the garment effectively.

Peel Method: Depending on the specific glitter film’s instructions, it may require a cold peel rather than the hot or warm peel common with standard DTF films. Always follow the manufacturer’s specific guidelines.

Multiple Presses: For the best durability and finish, experts recommend an initial press, peeling the film once completely cool, and then a second, final press for optimal adhesion.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Have an awesome day, and happy printing!

Edit: If you decide to use the DTF glitter film, we’d love for you to share your project with us. Also, let me know if these settings worked for you, as it may help others who are also seeking this information.

Will HTVRont be producing this on a roll? Can you recommend any certain brands that will work with my printer? I will be happy to try it out and show you. I basically make shirts for my daughters HS dance team she runs and clinics so I don’t profit except for my supplies. I love my printer so far though.
