Heat presses when not using them

When you’re not useing your heat press do you unplug it?

I don’t keep any presses plugged in if I am not using it. It may not be a rational fear but it has foundation from a coffee maker. Sounds crazy right? Well we had lost power when one of the transformers went crazy I believe a squirrel had something to do with it and it some how killed my coffee maker with that power surge of losing power and then when it came back on it was never the same. We don’t lose power often but it makes me more cautious with my presses I don’t want one to stop working from a power outage. Like I said it may not be a rational fear or train if thought but it’s a large part as to why I don’t keep my heat presses plugged in when not in use. Also why draw energy when it’s something not being used.

Then thunderstorms and crafting along the same lines if we have super bad weather I don’t use my machines I will wait for it to pass before powering on my machines. It may be goofy but I don’t think I am the only one that does it with out thinking about it.

I am sorry if I unlocked a new fear for you if this is something you have never thought of but I thought it could be a fun discussion.

I do not keep my heat press or any craft machine plugged in when not in use. Part of that come from the area I live in. For some reason we are prone to loosing power for no apparent reason. Yes some spring storms cause the power to go out. Then again, it could be a beautiful day with no weather for hundreds of miles, and all of a sudden the power will go out.

The only thing we keep plugged in are desktop computers and printers.

I keep my heat presses unplugged when not in use. I don’t think I’ve used either of them during a thunderstorm, but it’s not because I’m worried about something happening. I do it because it’s recommended, and because I just don’t think I’ve needed to press anything while there was a storm going on. However, I’d probably wait until the storm passed if I happened to be in the process of doing something that required a heat press. It’s kind of funny, because I just ordered 2 serge protectors, an hour ago, so I won’t have to unplug anything just so I can plug in a heat press. So, I think if it storms after Friday, I’ll be safe to press away during a storm, as they offer protection of 600 Joule. Which is, apparently, really good protection for something like a heat press.

Sounds like where I live. We’ll have a huge storm, nothing. The next day, bright and sunny, power goes out.
