How do you store your machines - old and new?

How do you store your machines—old and new? Do they each have a special spot, or do you keep them boxed until needed? I’m especially curious about your setup when a new machine joins the family! I love seeing how everyone sets up their creative space!

I love this question—it’s like asking how we welcome new members into our creative family! :purple_heart:  :star_struck:

For me, each machine earns its own “station” once it’s part of the crew. I try to keep them unboxed and ready to go, especially the ones I use often. My setup is a mix of function and flow: heat press close to the pressing table, and my cutters lined up like little soldiers ready for action.

When a new machine arrives, it’s a whole ritual—unboxing, testing, troubleshooting, and then finding its forever home. I document the process so others can follow along (and avoid the hiccups I hit!). It’s part celebration, part strategy.

Curious to hear how others handle the “new machine shuffle”—do you rearrange your whole space or just squeeze it in?

:purple_heart: I love how you described it as a ritual—yes!! That blend of celebration and strategy is so real. I’m totally picturing your cutters lined up like little soldiers, ready for action.

Your setup sounds like it flows beautifully with your process. I especially appreciate that you document the journey for others—those hiccup-saving tips are gold!

Also curious: do you name your machines? I know some folks do, and it always makes me smile!

Most of my machines have a specific place, sometimes, all I need are machines in the upper area or where I can grab them easily. While some of those machines that are often used are on the bottom shelves, I prefer to use plastic or fabric to prevent dust.

I like to keep them out especially if they are new so I can play with it. Everything has their place and their accessories kept close. If I get a new machine that replaces an old, I usually give the old machine away with supplies so they can start their journey too. I’m a little bit of a hoarder as well on supplies, but organized! Love my space! Also I decorate my surroundings. Starting a flower wall. :lotus:

I no longer have a crafting room. My house is my crafting space again. Lol. My oldest son moved out. That turned into my craft space then my youngest decided he wanted his room so it changed again. I’m moving hopefully in the next couple of months and will turn my dining room into my crafting room temporarily.

I love how intentional your setup sounds—having machines placed where they’re easiest to grab is such a smart way to keep your flow going! And using fabric or plastic to shield from dust? That’s a pro move. I used to sew protective covers for some of my sewing/quilting/embroidery machines even they were locked inside the cabinets.

I’m curious—do you rotate which ones stay up top based on your current projects, or do they have “forever homes”? Your system sounds both practical and protective, which is a win-win in any creative space!

Thank you for sharing!

Your space sounds like a dream—playful, purposeful, and full of heart! I love that you keep new machines out so you can dive right in, and the way you pass on older ones with supplies is such a generous way to spark someone else’s creative journey. That’s community-building at its finest. And hey, organized hoarding is a superpower in the crafting world! The flower wall looks gorgeous too—can’t wait to see how it blooms! :cherry_blossom:

Your flexibility and resilience really shine through—what a journey your crafting space has taken! It’s amazing how you’ve adapted with each change, and turning the dining room into a temporary creative zone sounds like a perfect pivot. I hope your upcoming move brings you a space that feels truly yours again. In the meantime, crafting throughout the house just means creativity is everywhere! :muscle::sparkles: Can’t wait to see how your new setup evolves! :star_struck:
