. Welcome to the community! Congratulations on your new machine! I think you’re trying to cut some lines into an element so you can make a stencil, am I correct? I created this video to show you how to make lines and subtract them from the square shape. This technique will work with most elements. Just be sure you group all of the lines, or elements you want to cut out of the square, then select both the square and the group of elements before clicking Combine > Subtract. There are a couple stencil patterns here. Or you can create your own in IdeaStudio, like @Samantha_Bryant mentions. If you can be more specific, we can help you further.

No, @BellethehowtoGuru, there was no sound. My husband had the TV blasting and my dogs were snoring very loudly, so I tried to make it as clear as I could without sound.
