💡 Insight Hub #21 | How Do You Handle Fumes & Dust While Crafting?

Hi everyone  We’ve been curious about how people manage the air environment in their craft workspaces :eyes:

Quick question: how do you usually deal with fumes, dust, or ventilation when crafting?

How do you usually deal with fumes and dust using craft machines like laser engravers, DTF printers, 3D printers, UV printers, etc.?

  • No measures taken, just open windows for ventilation
  • Wear a mask, but fumes/dust are released directly indoors
  • Already using a professional fume extractor (compatible with various DIY machines)
  • Already using a dedicated smoke air purifier for laser engravers
  • Already using a regular home air purifier
  • Concerned about health risks, but haven’t found a suitable solution yet

  • What’s your biggest concern / what are you trying to remove?
(e.g., smoke, fine dust, odor, VOCs/harmful gases, resin smell, ink fumes, etc.)
  • Which machine(s) made you consider buying ventilation / purification equipment?
(laser, DTF, 3D printer, UV printer, other)
  • If you already have a home air purifier: Do you also use it for craft machine emissions (smoke/dust/gases)? How well does it work? Any limitations?

Would love a dedicated purifier for crafting!

I would love a dedicated air purifier or ventilatuon system for our 3D printers and laser engravers. For now, we get by with open windows and doors as we are getting ready to move and not using them much.

I would love an air purifier for my craft room.

I have a pyrography machine, and I sometimes have to sand clay, resin, or wood. I usually just wear a mask and open the windows when I’m burning. For sanding, I go outside, but still wear the mask. I don’t like to sand in the house because dust gets everywhere.

I vent the laser out the window. When sublimating, I just turn on the ceiling fan or open the window. I have an air purifier but I don’t use it often.

Would love to try one but not sure which one is the best for air purification

I open windows and turn fan on when sublimating. I avoid using AC because I think it messes up the temp in the sublimation oven.

So I keep widows/ door open but I have a normal air purifier near by not one special for crafting no fume extractors.

Does a normal purifier works? Now I have pets at home and worry the fumes would affect them.

It helps clear the air I have had them in my house so it was just moving one near by and letting it filter the air like normal while using the engraver.

I use an air purifier because of sublimation fumes and epoxy resin and laser iengrave vents out window with the covered bundle . However I would much rather have a fume extractor so I wasn’t so limited to where machines had to go to vent!
