💡 Insight Hub #23 | Heat Press Pressure & Workflow: What Works Better for You?

Hi everyone

Calling all heat press users, we’d love to hear your real-world experience! :fire:

We’re currently exploring heat press product improvements, and your feedback can help us better understand what crafters actually need when pressing HTV, DTF, puff vinyl, sublimation projects, and more.

:ballot_box: Poll Time: Is 80kg Pressure Enough for Your Heat Press?

Our heat press currently supports up to 80kg of pressure. For the materials and projects you usually work with, does this feel enough?

  • Totally fine. 80kg is enough
  • Not quite enough, but I can make it work (add a little extra pressure my own way)
  • Not enough, I definitely need stronger pressure

:speech_balloon: Let’s Share: Pre-Press & Final Press Workflow

Usually, when using a heat press, you may need to pre-press your blank first to remove moisture or flatten the surface, and then do the final press for the transfer. In many cases, the final press takes longer than the pre-press.

From what we’ve seen, most people handle this one of two ways:

  • Manually set separate countdown times for pre-pressing vs. final pressing
  • Just set the timer for the final press, but keep an eye on it during pre-pressing and manually stop it halfway through

So here’s what we’d love to know, you can share your thoughts in the comments below.:
:point_right: Would you want two independent countdown start buttons — one for pre-pressing and one for final pressing?
:point_right: Or does that just overcomplicate things? If you were designing it, how would you set it up?

For my projects, 80 kg is more than enough — my 5‑in‑1 handles everything I do just fine. But some users who work with thicker blanks or large metal sublimation panels might need higher pressure. It really depends on the materials people use. For everyday HTV and sublimation, 80 kg is plenty.

I don’t use a separate timer for pre‑press. If my press is still heating up, I just set my blank on the platen while it warms and let it sit there until it’s close to temp. If the press is already hot, I just give it a quick 5–8 second pre‑press by counting in my head. Then I place my design and use the actual timer for the full press. A separate pre‑press timer isn’t necessary for me, but I can see how it might be nice for people who want more precision.
