LOKLiK Fashion Week - Mom & Daughter Matching Cardigans

Before I share you a few of my creations, I want to give you a little fun fact about me choosing the right fabric for my FASHION STATEMENTS. One of my favorite fabrics that I love to work with is Chiffon.

CHIFFON is a lightweight, sheer fabric that is made from silk, synthetic fibers, or blend of both. It is believed to have originated in France, where it was first used in the fashion industry. Over time, chiffon has evolved in terms of its production techniques and usage.

I made this matching Mom & Daughter Cardigans ten (10) years ago. Do you know the feeling of “first time” Mom that most of the time wants her daughter to dress up the same with her mom when going out? I do! This is the story behind these creations. I sewed couple matching cardigans with a high slit on both sides for me and for my daughter using chiffon fabrics. We wore this during Spring to Summer seasons. A lot of people stopped by, gave their compliments, and asked where I bought these beautiful cardigans and I told them proudly, “I made it!” That didn’t stop. I still have leftover fabrics, and I sewed scarves (please see pictures) NOT for my neck but for my bags/purses to match with my cardigans. Although, I cut long enough to wrap around my neck to style it like a flight attendant (if I want to). Every time I go to the mall, I dressed up not only for myself, but I dressed up my purses as well  Again, people gave me positive comments about my fashion statements and workmanships.

Some people were intimidated of working with chiffon fabrics ‘coz of the nature of its own, very thin, delicate, slippery, etc. But when you study them and have some practice with your sewing machine, you’ll love the outcome and you’ll be saying, “I MADE IT!”

I know I can’t go wrong choosing with chiffon fabrics for one of my fashion statements. Yet, it is so simple but so elegant, so airy and feels like you are walking in a runway of clouds. Try it yourself and show it off!

Thank you so much! Oh, I just missed those years that she can’t complain whatever I wanted her to wear to model. Now, I am still trying… she’s in the stage of becoming a “teen” (she has her own fashion statements). Hoping some day we can go out and match outfits again… hahaha

Thank you for such a wonderful comment of yours! Positive comments like this makes me want to create and share more of my masterpieces. Don’t hesitate or scared of sewing curves; I started sewing straight lines as well then, I practice and learn from my mistakes. Sewing is so much fun! You’ll enjoy it!
