Machine will not calibrate

I have tried everything to calibrate my machine. I have one of the machines purchased thru the crowd sourcing. it has the 2 heads as opposed to what I see with the 1 only.

I’ve printed the calibration sheet several times. then I read you have to use A4 paper. I’m in the US and don’t have that paper. I did print it both as A4 and Letter. Neither work. machine says ’ can’t read registration marks. I printed both on a laser printer and also a standard ink jet printer. That won’t work either.

I did get a message telling me to update the firmware, but after following the steps to do that? it won’t. it doesn’t find my machine so I can’t update it.

I cannot do any print and cut because even when I try without calibrating - my machine won’t read the marks necessary to do it. perhaps I have a faulty machine. this is the first I’ve used it since I got it over a year ago.

When I connect the machine - mine has the little red closure. it never listed it on the packaging when I got it and doesn’t say anywhere on the machine - which one it is.

this is what comes up. I don’t know how to attach a photo so I’ll type it in.

Looks like until this gets fixed or the machine get replaced? I’ll have to go back to my other machines. I did like the fact that this machine is so quiet but had really hoped to use it for print and cut.

This is extremely frustrating… Perhaps the one I purchased thru the crowd sourcing isn’t supported and just won’t do print and cut? it seems that the ‘beam’ that is supposed to find the registration marks just isn’t working.

Please provide me with some options. right now I’m just stuck. and really don’t want to have to purchase another one, I’d just have to give up.

I’m not sure if this will work, but try calibrating in a dark place or switching off the lights. It has worked for me many times.

What type of machine do you have? I bet @rinsky can help you.

I have the one with the 2 heads. It doesn’t say. I think it’s the icraft? got it thru a crowd sourcing deal before they actually went into full production. it’s wider than the one you typically see that only has one head. one to cut and another for a pen is what mine has.

Hi @mary_sergeant, thank you so much for sharing all the steps you’ve taken—your persistence really shows, and I can feel how frustrating this must be. You’re absolutely not alone in this, and I want to help you get unstuck.

Here are a few things to try and consider:

:hammer_and_wrench: Calibration & Registration Mark Troubleshooting

  • Lighting matters: Try calibrating in a dim room or with overhead lights off. Sometimes the sensor beam gets confused by glare or reflections.

  • Paper type: A4 is recommended, but if you only have Letter, make sure your printer settings match the paper size exactly and that scaling is turned OFF (i.e., print at 100%).

  • Printer type: Inkjet tends to work better than laser for registration marks, but if both failed, double-check that the black marks printed solidly and crisply.

  • Beam alignment: If the machine has dual heads, make sure the cutting head—not the pen head—is active when trying to read marks. Sometimes the wrong tool head interferes with detection.

:arrows_counterclockwise: Firmware & Machine Recognition

  • Firmware update issue: If your machine isn’t being recognized, try:

    • Switching USB ports or cables
    • Restarting both the machine and your computer
    • Ensuring the software is fully updated before attempting firmware
  • Model ID (RT_GA01_F128_FOUC): That identifier suggests it may be a pre-production or limited-release unit. You might be dealing with firmware or hardware that isn’t fully supported in the current software.

:bulb: Next Steps & Support

  • Reach out directly: I’d recommend contacting HTVRONT or LOKLiK support with your machine ID and a description of the dual-head setup. They may be able to confirm whether your unit is supported for print-and-cut or offer a firmware patch.

  • Community help: If you’re open to it, sharing a photo of your machine (even just the front and tool heads) might help others identify it more precisely.

  • Fallback option: If print-and-cut is your main goal and this machine won’t cooperate, maybe we can brainstorm ways to use your existing machines with registration hacks or manual alignment techniques.

You’ve already done so much troubleshooting, and it’s clear you’re not giving up easily. I really hope we can help you get this machine working—or at least find a workaround that lets you keep creating without feeling defeated.

Sending encouragement your way :yellow_heart:

thank you. I do believe the machine I have was most likely a pre mass production machine. it never occurred to me that it might not support print and cut functions. if that were the case - I would hope that the company would make good on that somehow.

not sure how to send photos, but I will happily take some. and I will reach out to the companies you suggested.

it was also suggested that I try again in a room that doesn’t have too much light. I’ll try all the suggestions.

That’s crucial

Just pull the iCraft’s lid down, it should do the “too much light case” trick

Yes - did that. I don’t think the LOKLIK machine likes me. LOL
