Not sure if this is the right area to ask this question… i hope it is
I was wondering if anyone can offer advice on how i can make my NEW mats not so sticky 
I’ve used one for the first time and no matter what material i use its sticking too much and ripping when i try to remove it

I would press an old t-shirt against the mat so the lint would stick.

Shoooot, I LOVE a sticky mat, but yeah, I echo @chrischen, if you want to lose some stickiness. I just bought new mats a few weeks ago, and they’ve already lost most of their tack. 
I hate having to tape materials down, so the stickier the mat, the better, for me. I have found that turning the mat upside down and peeling the mat from the material — rather than the material from the mat — helps tremendously.
Oh, and yes, this is the right category for this question.

I agree with @chrischen and @Samantha_Bryant.
Also, a quick note is to make sure you use the right mat for the job. One mat isn’t one size fits all. I give heaps of information and tips in this post
