Hmmm. I wonder if it cut accuracy is better with vector images (LLIS) than bitmap images (Canva)? :man_shrugging:
Also, I (or rather my Crafter) always struggled with cardstock until I moved to premium material. I always found the white core would rip but this colour core material is great, which make sense.

Well, I never tried using IS library images, but I did try cutting squares that I made with the shapes in the IS, but never could get an accurate cut. Calibration was always a hassle, too. I could hardly ever get it to read the marks, and when it did, the values were always far off from the -2 to +2 range. Today, the iCraft did the first cal at -10, -10, 3, & well, I can’t remember the last one. In the second go, I got all 0s! I couldn’t believe it. So I stopped calibrating, added some images from the library and did a cut. The first time, I used the Print Then Cut offset from the Image Matting panel. The cuts were slightly off. So, I added my own offsets without the image Matting, and did it that way, and achieved a perfect cut. So, I tried uploading my Canva images, as someone here was trying to do that — and I wanted to see how I could help them — the cuts were slightly off the first time, the second time way off, but I realized I moved the offset layer a bit. The third time, I used the manual offset tool, made sure the offset was aligned perfectly with the printed images, and the cut was slightly off, again. Whenever I use the image Matting PTC feature, it cuts out all the letters, even though, the offset has no cuts in it, it’s solid, it still wants to cut inside the image. That’s why I prefer doing the manual offset.

As for the cardstock, I’m not sure, could definitely be. I know I can cut great as long as it’s straight lines, or it’s fairly large with no small details. If I need to do smaller designs with small details, nope, ain’t gonna happen. Tears my cardstock all to pieces. :woman_shrugging:t3: However, it cuts the HTVRONT Glitter cardstock like a dream! It’s way thicker than the colored cardstock I use, which is Neenah UltraBrights. I also use HTVRont printable white cardstock, and it seems to do pretty well.

Today’s mood was encouraging! I’ve spent most of the day in the office getting things done!

Oh know, I hope you find him.

Yay! Happy you got your iCraft. I’m sad how it came to you though. Really not acceptable. What firmware are you running? I’ve noticed after updating to v8 my machine is louder and also the Bluetooth connection problems I had back in v2 & 3 are back. Hopefully they will be resolved in a new patch.

Sorry you are having print then cut problems with this machine too. When you select the print the cut operation on your uploaded image is the blue cut line showing correctly where you want it to cut? After selecting this operation it shouldn’t cut out bits in your image anymore. :pensive: I thought it was finally fixed.

If your paper is tearing I always change the force to be a bit higher and the speed to be slower. Intricate cuts on cardstock I normally cut on speed 2 or 3.

Day #38:

Today’s mood is busy but still hopeful. It was one of those catch up days filled with taking care of things around the house and checking tasks off the list. I kicked off a long 20 hour 3D print for my sister’s upcoming birthday, but after two failed attempts when the supports broke loose, it became clear that this design just was not meant to be. Sometimes the machine decides for you, and now it is back to the drawing board to find a more solid and reliable project that will still be special for her.

Even with those setbacks, the creative spark is still very much alive. I am really looking forward to sharing some new shadow boxes I have been working on very soon. Wishing everyone a productive and inspired day. Happy crafting everyone!

Day 39 - Mood - Sad
@MCVDFC Still dealing with printer issues. Pretty sure something inside broke because it made an awful noise as soon as I sent the print job. I contacted customer support and they just sent me the same troubleshooting steps I’d already told them I’d done. Wasted a whole day waiting for their reply, only for them to say I could try a warranty claim.

We had a water leak a couple of months ago and the filing cabinet got soaked — I’m pretty sure my printer receipt was one of the papers that got destroyed because I can’t find it anywhere. So now I’m waiting to hear if they’ll accept my unboxing video as proof of purchase date. If not, I guess I’m buying another bloody printer.

It’s been a crappy weekend. I just want to make stuff.

What supports were you using? Adding a brim can also help keep smaller supports anchored to the build plate, which might prevent the print from failing.

@BellethehowtoGuru it was a tree support that was actually attached with a brim. The first time the support broke off the brim and the second time the brim peeled up from the build plate and caused the support to fall over. The first time I was about 2 hours in… the second time I was about 12 hours in. YIKES!! Maybe a nice shadow box instead for her birthday. LOL!!

Oh wow, OK yeah that sucks. I have noticed not all 3D models are built the same. Maybe go with a shadow box

Yeah, I’m happy, too. The machine seems to be ok, other than having to carefully push the door closed. First thing I did was update the firmware to v8. It only makes a knocking sound when it’s reading the marks. It doesn’t do it when cutting. Yes, the blue cut line is showing where I want it to cut. If I see that it’s cutting inside the image, I will expand the offset. However, I seem to have better luck when adding my own offset with the offset tool rather than clicking the Print Then Cut option in the Image Matting panel. The offset in the Image Matting panel looks solid when I select only it and hide the image layer, so I don’t understand why it’s cutting out anything on the inside.

As for the cardstock, yeah, I’ve upped the force all the way and it still wouldn’t work. It actually seemed to drag the cardstock even more than it did at 7. That was the Crafter, though. I haven’t tried cardstock with my iCraft, yet. I’ve just been cutting permanent vinyl, today, along with some paper that I did the PTC tests on. So far, I’m satisfied with it. The connection is lasting longer than it was at first. However, it’s still disconnecting here and there, but it’s lasting over 30 minutes, now.

Yay. Can’t wait to see those shadow boxes! Sorry about the printer mishap, though. :hugs: I’m sure you’ll figure out something else, and it’ll probably be better than the first idea.

And that’s unfortunate, @BellethehowtoGuru. I hope they accept your video as proof and everything works out in your favor.:hugs::heart:

Yeah I only get the knocking noise when reading the rego marks too. Yeah I hope they get the Bluetooth issues under control it’s a bit annoying when you are half way through a cut and it just randomly disconnects.

I wish the Leader board also showed the complete All Time points earned without the deductions after redemption. I wanted to know how much points I’ve already earned in total. Currently the All Time shows the reduced points. I’ve already redeemed 4 machines in the span of 1 year
