Print and Cut, but no printer

Does anyone here have a LOKLiK iCraft but no printer?

I’m having trouble with the Print then Cut feature because I don’t have a printer at home. When the “print” dialog appears in LOKLiK IdeaStudio, I save the file as a PDF and take it to a printing service (including the calibration file) without closing the app. However, when I proceed to cut, the machine often misses the cutting lines.

I’m wondering if this issue happens because saving as a PDF slightly alters the margins or scaling. Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution? Thank you in advance

Hey Quinzy, I have a printer so my reply may be of no use to help you. I just want to say I love how you are looking for a work around. Maybe and its a long shot, check your firmware version, and do an update if its lower than version 6.
i was still in version 3 and my cuts were way off, I updated to version 6 and done a print then cut calibration and it works fine now.
You can get a few prints done of the calibration print and keep them in file, so you have them for when you need to do a print then cut callibration.
hope you can get around this to get the print then cut to work, its fabulous!

It’s best to have your own printer so you can see and adjust the print settings. Make sure when you have it printed elsewhere, tell them to print it at 100% or actual size and not shrink to fit because that may affect the print output

I think you need a printer so you can calibrate it well. For the meantime try doing cutting projects and do layering instead☺️

Yes, for now, I’m just exploring some projects using the standard cut. But also can’t wait to continue DIY my magnetic bookmark

Thank you! My old printer is broken, and I rarely use a printer, which is why I haven’t bought a new one yet. Maybe it’s time :joy:

That makes sense! I’ll keep that in mind when printing elsewhere and make sure to set it to 100% or actual size. I might also start looking for a new printer so I can adjust the settings myself. Thank you!

That’s a great idea! I’ll focus on cutting projects and layering for now. And yes, I might start looking for a printer soon so I can calibrate it properly. Thanks for the suggestion!

I created my video using camtasia software, it’s great at recording a screen, i’m on windows.
1/ have your video ready first
2/ when you are creating your post, write your comment
3/ then click on the video icon above, it’s included in the post editing icons.
(NOTE) copy and paste your comment in case you loose it when you are uploading your video. or write your comment after the video has been inserted. 4/ The video will install as code.
5/ once you post your post, the video will automatically show in the post.
This is only a brief on how to do it, hope it helps get you started.

it does ask for and requires a lower size, your video needs to be under 2MB to upload.

I have seen people have success with using a printer they don’t have at home, but it was a lot of running around. I would suggest saving the calibration sheet as a pdf and then printing multiple sheets, say 10 so you can then calibrate your LOKLiK icraft. Make sure you select the cuts that are in the middle of each line. After you are happy with the settings you can then try and print your project. I would probably try just on paper first and see how you go. It’s a lot of running round but it is possible. You can get a decent printer these days for $100.

Thank you! I usually get my stickers printed and cut by a vendor, but now that I have my own LOKLiK iCraft, I’m thinking of buying a printer to produce my own stickers. Do you have any printer brand recommendations?

Printers really depend on what you need. Most printer quality is the same now unless you buy 1000 dollar printer. Just depends what you want to do. If you want to print A3 or if you want to be able to scan things. I actually just bought a new printer as my HP Office Jet 7612 print head died. Tried replacing it but wouldn’t work anymore. I got a Cannon Pixma TS9560a it was on sale for $250 aud dollars. I need the scan and A3 printing for my business so I settled on this one. I would stick with your main brands though, Cannon, HP and Epson. You really can’t go wrong with either. I also looked at the price of ink, Cannon ink was the cheapest. Some things to think about, hope this helps.
