Print and Cut Job - print borders

I was a little puzzled by the position of the print borders. It seems a lot of the page is wasted.

I had some HTVRONT vinyl print sheets come and noticed the size was different to the A4 I normally use. it is Letter size.

In the studio you can select the paper size and when you compare the print borders for the two sizes it make more sense.

The right side and bottom borders are set for the smallest dimensions of the two paper sizes. The narrower A4 and the shorter Letter.

Which ever size paper you use then there will be a margin that is too wide.

Yes, hoping in the next big update the print and cut boarders will be placed better and the ones that the machine doesn’t need will be removed so we can get a bigger print area.

I do hope they can be manually adjusted like other cutter plotter machines

yes there are so many space wasted. :frowning: hopefully they can maybe remove just the right side borders since i havent seen it being scanned. or better if it can be adjusted.

I think it’s just the bottom right that doesn’t get scanned.

I think you can print outside the registration marks.

Yes, the right bottom mark does nothing there, that’s why I print outside IS without that mark and use all that space without any problem.

And yes, tou can print outside the marks as long as the design is within the cutting limits, that you can see with the cut function red mark and inside the A4.

You can print in the orange area:

It’d be wonderful if the limits expanded to A3 too

I do hope they remove that lower right reg marks completely since it is merely an obstruction for us users

Totally, adjustable marks as you always say would be the best for us. Plus IS need to let us handle colour profiles, I won’t use it to print until I cannot actually and fully use my printer’s settings…

That workaround is ridiculous.
Just let us adjust the markers ourselves? Other apps can do that, why not this?

Ok, I decided to ignore the registration marks and tried this. It cut every single one of those without a problem.

That actually works but its better if the registration mark is movable.

Yeah, definitely. But at least the whole sheet can be used. Being wasteful with the already precious sticker papers drives me nuts

Recurrent claim this one. Only adding that besides you can use the outer space, you can also get rid of the bottom right mark:

  • Ignore that mark when placing your design
  • Print as Pdf with the marks on.
  • Open in any vector edition external software
  • Delete that mark.
  • Print from that software the A4 at 100% scale
  • Go back to IS and select the design
  • Go Make > Print then Cut
  • Click Already printed
  • Cut

Try this with a test print in regular paper to ensure you’re not missing anything

This is easier than it looks. You can also make an A4 template with the marks, and use that external software to work on your desing and there and save as svg to import to IS.
