I’ve taken a while with the Christmas deco, but I finally managed to do some crafting and enjoy it.
A Christmas door ornament (18 cm diameter) in two versions: Feliz Navidad (Happy Christmas) and Felices Fiestas (Happy Holidays) written in Spanish lettering, in white HTV on a red felt circle and decorated with white stars, gold-green chameleon HTV accents, and hand-drawn white snowflakes. The sign hangs from a piece of red felt decorated with a white HTV snowflake, both pieces joined by a beautiful thin silky cotton thread strung with old-gold beads, matching perfectly with the chameleon vinyl.
The first step was creating the main lettering, then vectorizing it and composing everything together. First time I try cutting felt, and it seemed a bit risky with the limited time I had, so I kept backup options ready in case things got complicated. Testing the material was quite an experience as it’s tricky, it really put my Crafter to the test. First time I actually miss an iCraft, A felt is definitely not easy to handle. The result turned out spectacular and opens a world I’ll keep exploring.
For the layers, I wasn’t sure whether to use more colored felt, HTV, adhesive vinyl, EVA foam thinner and intricate elements like the lettering and snowflakes obviously had to be vinyl. I thought maybe I could add some green felt stars and I also considered using gold. Then I remembered I still had a gold-green chameleon vinyl saved for a special project. A total success! Green and gold together in a single material, making the design cleaner but also absolutely stunning. The pics don’t do this vinyl justice.
I’m delighted with how everything turned out, I’m sure I’ll make more to give as gifts. All the elements are uploaded to the IS library, so anyone looking for assets to create Spanish Christmas decorations can use them. You can also replace the Spanish phrase with your own. I hope you like it! And I’ll take the chance to wish you all Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
