Project | "Less Bitter, More Glitter" Decorative Tray

Difficulty: Intermediate

For this project, I transformed a simple wooden tray from Dollar Tree into a bright, glossy statement piece. I started by painting the entire tray—inside and out—with acrylic paint, using a soft baby pink as the base color. Once the paint cured, I sealed the tray with a coat of gloss varnish to protect the surface and give it a smooth foundation for the vinyl.

Using a design from Loklik IdeaStudio, I cut the lettering with my Loklik iCraft Cutting Machine. The phrase is made with a mix of HTVRONT matte permanent adhesive vinyl and color‑shifting chrome permanent adhesive vinyl for extra sparkle and dimension. After applying the design with transfer tape, I mixed and poured epoxy resin into the tray to seal the vinyl and create that glass‑like, high‑shine finish.

The final result is a fun, vibrant tray with a motivational twist—perfect for décor, gifting, or holding small items with a little extra personality.
