Using HTV Ross Adhesive Vinyl + Idea Studio Elements
This festive wooden plaque was a labor of love — blending scripture, seasonal joy, and boutique design flair. Here’s how I brought it to life, step by step.
Materials Used
- HTV Ross Adhesive Vinyl (for lettering and decorative accents)
- Wooden vertical plaque (light wood finish)
- Design elements from Idea Studio @ Loklik
- Candy canes
- Bows
- Bells
- Transfer tape & scraper tool
- Cutting machine (compatible with adhesive vinyl)
- Nehemiah 8:10 scripture: “The joy of the Lord is your strength”
Step-by-Step Process
- Design Planning
- I started with the phrase:
“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and “The Season of Joy”
These were the heart of the design — joyful, spiritual, and perfect for the holidays. - I used Idea Studio’s festive elements to add charm: candy canes, bows, and bells were sprinkled throughout the layout to create movement and balance.
- Cutting the Vinyl
- I used HTV Ross adhesive vinyl, which has a beautiful finish but can be tricky to work with.
- Each phrase and icon was cut separately to allow for precise placement.
- Tip: Use a test cut first — this vinyl doesn’t always lay down smoothly on the first try.
- Weeding & Transfer
- Weeding the vinyl took patience, especially with the smaller script fonts.
- I applied transfer tape and used a scraper to press the vinyl onto the wood.
- Challenge: Some pieces (especially the last few) didn’t want to stick — it felt like the vinyl was resisting the surface. I had to go slow and reapply pressure multiple times.
- Final Touch: Scripture
- I added Nehemiah 8:10 at the bottom:
“The joy of the Lord is your strength”
This grounded the design in faith and added a meaningful layer to the holiday message.
Tips & Reflections
- Don’t rush the vinyl transfer — HTV Ross can be stubborn. Stay calm and keep pressing.
- Layer your design intentionally —
