Puff-vinyl falls of shirt

Hi <3

I pressed puff vinyl on a shirt. It looked perfect. But a few days later the puff is falling off. Why is it happening??

The settings:
Siser Puff
Pressed with: 140 celcius (248 fahrenheit), 8 sec, 80 kg (176 pounds).
The shirt is cotton and washed and prepressed beforehand.

Hope you can help!

I have never pre washed a shirt but did you use fabric softener or the pads tgat have it mixed in? Fabric softener can cause htv to come off quicker then it should also.

No I didn’t use fabric softener. Just used mild detergent

Siser usually recommends around 155 to 160 °C (311 to 320 °F) for 10 to 15 seconds with firm pressure. Your press at 140 °C for 8 sec is probably too low/short. If it’s already lifting, unfortunately it can’t really be fixed, but try peeling off the failed bits and adding new letters that failed and heat set again those that failed, you have nothing to lose concidering the shirt is no good like it is. for next time I’d suggest bumping up the temp and pressing a little longer with firm even pressure. did you use the auto heat press?

According to Sisers website the puff requires 135-140°C. Where have you seen 155-160°C? :open_mouth:

Yes I used the auto heat press.

You’re right, Siser’s guide says 135 to140 °C. But if the puff is lifting, that usually points to not enough heat or time for a solid bond. so sometimes you need to bump it up a touch and press a few seconds longer.
So if it’s falling off, the most likely cause is it wasn’t hot enough to anchor into the fibers.

I have found puff to be very suseptible to moisture. So I normally pre press for a full 15 to 20 seconds to make sure all the moisture is out of the shirt.
Also each puff is different, so I can press white siser puff at 140 but my red siser puff is 135.

I normally cut some squares and do test presses for time and temp. Puff can be very finicky.

Thank you. I give it a try :heart_hands:

Omg sounds so difficult haha :weary: I will give it a try with longer prepress :sparkling_heart:
