Hi everyone!! I have been having some issues with my icraft machine and I started reading about calibration and I hear, you have to calibrate it on paper you will actually use for your craft - but what if I use few different types? I have various projects I will be using either matte cardstock, mate vinyl sticker paper or glossy sticker paper, not to mention i will laminate them half of the time so its all different surfaces of paper…do I have to calibrate the machine every time when i switch paper? That seems so excessive and wasteful - id have to waste whole sticker sheet/laminate paper for calibration and such ![]()
@Anna_Smith, you don’t need to fully recalibrate every single time you switch paper types. Calibration is mainly to make sure your cuts line up correctly with your prints, so once your machine is dialed in, it usually holds steady. What can change between materials is how the blade behaves—matte cardstock vs. glossy sticker paper vs. laminated sheets all have different thicknesses and finishes.
• Do your main calibration once on a standard sheet (often plain cardstock or copy paper).
• When switching materials, adjust your cut settings (pressure, speed, blade depth) rather than recalibrating.
• If you notice misalignment or cuts drifting, that’s when a quick calibration test on scrap material is worth it.
To save waste, you can use smaller off‑cuts or test strips of the same material instead of a full sheet. That way you’re not sacrificing an entire sticker or laminate page just for calibration.
Hey Anna, @Rinsky is right you don’t have to callibrate each time, and I have not callibrated using the paper or sticker paper, i use a 100gsm or so white paper thats it. once i got my calibration right i hardly calibrate now.
