I need help with slice feature. Have a template and want to add digital pattern. I hover over both the template and pattern The combine function is grey and therefore can’t slice. See video. Thanks

Hi, Talitha! If you’re using an image that’s not an SVG/Vector, the Combine tool may be disabled. If you’re using PNG or JPG files, they are uneditable images. You’ll need to have a vectorized image in order for the Combine tool to function. You can find some free programs, like Inkscape, online that can convert your PNG or JPG to SVG, then, it should work.

In her video, the Mask option is also grayed out. Mine is too, for all elements, even SVGs.

You’re very welcome. Hope it works for you.

Mask is grey out. Some one else said to use Inkscape to convert to Vector design. This software is confusing.

Ok, I’ve never used Inkscape—it was late, and I was in bed & couldn’t think of any others at the time—but try imagy.app. It should be really easy for you. Once there, click the hamburger menu in the top right. Choose image converter. Upload your image, then select SVG in the Output File Format. Scroll down and uncheck enable compression, then enter the max file size in kb in that section. (You should be able to find that in the metadata of your original image if you go to your image’s information. Enter the kb amount you see there so you don’t lose quality of the image.) However, if you can’t find the size of your image, you can still see if compressing it will still give you a clear image that’s not distorted from being reduced. Then, select process image. You should have an SVG that can now be sliced with the combine tool.
